but why not make available the erlkonig available for purchase like other companies keep selling their flagships till a new one is out

As I said: there are a lot of reasons. And as it is a universal model, it will still be available on the second hand market.
We need a spy on the inside!

I am giving my best. But I have a natural filter to control the output

Just be patient. Good things need some time to grow. And as we all know from when we were kids: The time before Christmas is at least as good as Christmas itself, when you finally know what you got as presents...

(pardon the analogy. Just thought it might fit in the season...)

All the best,

Johannes

Excellent review. I spend more time with the Ely than any other IEM I possess. I think your review was spot on! The vocals and instruments in the mid range come through in a very appropriate emotional way!
I couldn't agree with more with this statement. Great write up @rev92. I've had my Elysium for almost 7 months. I usually move onto new iems fairly quickly, but for some reason the Elysium still gets tons of playtime. It goes to show how special the Elysium is, to me at least. It still brings a smile to my face on each listen. @Vision Ears can't wait for your next creation and thanks for making such an amazing product! Happy Holidays

Are u guys affected by the lockdown? I understand it will starts on 16th Dec & ends on 10th Jan?
Hi Korvin,

We will be affected in so far that we are not allowed to have customers in the company anymore. But production can be continued. Aside from that, we will be closed for holidays from 24th of December to 3rd of January.

All the best,

Johannes

Hi,

While listening to Tidal at work, I accidentally selected "Force Volume that allows TIDAL to bypass its settings allowing the user to control the volume from their DAC or connected stereo device."
The hardware I was using was Dragonfly Red and IEMatch.
On one track of course volume went up to the max. It was maybe 5 seconds and I stopped the music.

Now.... Elysium sounds very weird. I cannot describe it. There is no distortion or anything like that. It just sounds different.
What I noticed is now I have to turn the volume up more than I used to, to get the same listening levels.

Do you think max volume could destroy middle frequency dynamic drivers? Would that be the case that now I have to turn volume up (because there are only two out of the three drives working?)

Is there any way to check IEMs? Measure it somehow?

@Vision Ears what are your thoughts?

Hi @zuber,

Sorry to hear that your Elysium suffered some damage. I hope your ears are ok and were not exposed to the max volume.

As you have quite a signal chain with your source, Dragonfly and IEMatch, we cannot really predict how high the level was that actually reached the earphone. But too high levels in general can harm earphones, of course. Especially when they appear suddenly with a bang.

Of course you can send in your ELYSIUM and we will check it and send you options what we can do.

If you want to do so, please send the ELYSIUM to:

VISION EARS GmbH
Luxemburger Straße 51
50674 Cologne
GERMANY

Following information should be included in the package:

  • your full address.
  • e-mail address.
  • mobile number (for questions and the shipment back to you).
  • your order number (VEXXxxxXX) or warranty card (if it is a universal version).
  • A description of what happened to the earphone and what the problem is.
If you have more questions regarding the process, please drop us a line to info@vision-ears.de.

All the best,

Johannes

I have had Erlkonig for a few days as part of a tour and I posted my review/impressions here: https://www.audiodiscourse.com/2020/12/vision-ears-erlkonig-review.html

This thing is buttery smooth with great resolution and imaging. I really like it. Its super weighty, yet comfortable, unlike other heavy large IEMs I've tried (e.g. Solaris, Z1R, ME1, etc). It's obviously very expensive so hard to recommend unless you have big bucks available, but I really think its a nice product with top technical performance and a good warm and inviting sound.

Great review! I also think setting 2 is the sweet spot between warmth and resolving ability.

And I agree about setting 1, although I used to enjoy it but as time has passed I’ve started feeling that it is a bit too bass bloated.

I'm thinking about buying the Elysium Universal fit. Most here must have his customized version, but if anyone has the universal version I would like to know if they would indicate the universal version. I want to buy a Universal IEM up to $ 2,900.

Vision Ears was very kind in sending me over VE5 demos for an extended loan so I could use those for my upcoming classical music review series and because they sent along the full retail packaging, I thought I would post a shot of that here.

Has anyone got their hands on the VE8 universal yet?
Nope...I know there is interest in a true universal VE8, just haven't gotten one yet
