I have followed some of the thread that Patrick has started before and I don't think this reflects everything he has written about the tweaks he has done. I know some of the tweaks he has attempted has not given him the positive results that the attempt would imply he was after.

My bet is on that Patrick never paid, or got a very good discount, on those cables.

VD knows about Patrick and considering their rep may have gone down from some past threads, they were looking for some glowing reviews.

Maybe VD is expecting a positive outcome but I would considered letting Patrick review these as a crap shoot since I consider Patrick "somewhat eccentric" and therefore the results any such review would be unknown to what he may be expected to say. So I think that if your conjecture is the case then VD is showing great confidence in their product.

I still think Patrick is going to hear what he expects to hear upon receiving a box full of ridiculously expensive cables.

Patrick, can you think of a way to compare these cables to some other less expensive cables such that you are not subconsciously willing the expensive cables to sound better? If you can, please post the results here!

I don't disagree with you there. That has ran across my mind after I posted, but now markl's review so close to this one makes me wonder...

And I do also believe VD has lots of confidence, form reading their posts here on head-fi, so I wouldn't think it would be too far off of a theory.

but again I am just speculating and actually more I think about it, I think patrick is more than mad enough to spend big bucks on things like this. But I see him as having no job, other than pool, so I just wonder where the money comes from.

I've definitely enjoyed VD in my setup. I'm frankly, quite interested in what markl and patrick have to say. I actually refused to audition some VD Genesis cables for the fear that I might like them.

It takes a heart to say no to one of the nice cables out there that I have a feeling might better my system. After all I got to plan for the oncoming "recession"
