Hi everyone. Can anyone give any information relating to some speakers manufactured by Jensen. They are Jensen 700-XL or Jensen 700-XLW Hi-Fi speakers. I got them as a freebie.

What are the reviews on these? They do seem like they can sound very nice and they are very heavy but I have never heard of them. Any info would be appreciated.

Try this IP address for Audiokarma.org:

204.10.140.18

They deal with all vintage audio and are very knowledgeable with repairs and DIY. They are having server troubles but that address should be good.

Found this on Audio Asylum:
Jensen 700XL
Super Low Resonance 12-inch FLEXAIR woofer with 3.6lb. DP-Alnico-5 magnet.
Horn-Loaded midrange with carefully co-ordinated 5-inch driver.
Compression-driver horn loaded Super-Tweeter.
SONO-DOME Ultra-Tweeter.

Also found mention, using google, that these were designed in the late 60s using the live vs. recorded tests that were popular at the time.

They sound like keepers to me.........but then again, everything does.

Thanks for the replies!

Any ideas or recommendations of where I can take them for repair and any estimate as how much damage my wallet will take? I live in Orange County, California. Any suggestions are welcome.

identify the original parts then check ebay.it is common practice, one that sucks in my mind,to take vintage speakers and rather than sell the entire system part it out

drivers, boxes, crossovers and even at times the badges-all separate and for max profit
