Looking to get into stats, so I'm thinking about how I need to rearrange my rig. I have an integrated at the moment, but headphone out is awful, and I can't judge the speaker out or phono in, since I don't have any other point of reference. I'm looking for a nice, sub-$150 vintage integrated. I've heard good things about the Pioneer SX series, but I really I need something with very good speaker outs (for the Stax energiser) and phono in (for my TT which will be my joint primary source with my DAC.)

So, anyone with strong suggestions on this? Thanks.

EDIT: Also, I've been thinking about a T-amp and a Cambridge 540p. What do you guys think of this?

There is a really nice Scott 222d at Sales Baron right now for $400.00.

Much too dear for me. I said sub-$150, I could stretch that to $200 max.

Would Sonic IMpact or Trends t-amp work going into the energiser?

I don't have a model in mind, that's why I created this thread

Don't know about availability or price in the US, but I have a Cyrus One from the 80's which has an excellent phono stage - a typical classic British amp, a bit analytical, a bit unforgiving of bad sources, but great when well fed, and if you get one with a headphone socket it sounds very good. I got mine for £70ish, but they can go for up to a little over £100 here.

ah, got confused.
only vintage integrated I have experience with is my dad's luxman LV-105, which is about $400 used.

Lecky, I checked out the Cyrus One. After I waded through all the Hannah Montana results on eBay, it looks like it'll run around $200 here in the States. Definitely an option, methinks. Thanks for the heads up!

An old integrated will be better for the Stax energizer than the T amp. I own a vintage NAD 3155 which has a very good phono preamp. The headphone amp is good, but not great. It has a high output impedance so isn't good with low impedance headphones. It works very well with Stax energizers. I've read that other NADs have good phono preamps as well.

On the ortho thread, the Yamaha CR-620 has become popular. It has a very good headphone out and a good phone preamp.

You would probably get more answers if you ask the question on audiokarma.
