Kiss recently released albums in remastered form at reduced price (but no bonus tracks

) and just want to say my favorites overall are the two featuring guitarist Vinnie Vincent:
-Creatures of the Night 1982
-Lick it Up (famous for removal of make-up ) 1983

The sound quality is surprisingly good compared to mid seventies "golden era" Kiss albums which always have several good tracks mixed in with several weak tracks. The two Vinne Vincent albums are pretty solid all the way through, I was pleasantly surprised and really like these now.

Because of hit/miss quality of songs on albums primary listening should be to remastered 1st two live albums and remastered "double platinum" which rounds up 1970's hits pretty well.........then get the two Vinnie Vincent albums above.

Creatures of the Night is ok IMO. The best Kiss album is their debut though, no doubt. You can't argue with Strutter, Deuce, Cold Gin, Black Diamond etc. etc.

Yea.......that is the best of the 1970's albums, a notch below would be Destroyer + Rock & Roll.

But..........do you think the album versions of those classic tracks "rock" the same way as the live versions? Or are they somewhat flat in comparison.

You know what.......you're right. Perhaps it is just the new remasters, but they have more punch now. I previously thought the album versions were a bit flat and lifeless compared to live albums. I will order a few of the better ones:
Kiss s/t
Destroyer
Love Gun
Rock & Roll

The sound on "creatures" still rules however, the track "love it loud" is kickin like a mule, wow! The drums are mixed different,
more prominent and forceful..........and of course Vinnie Vincent on guitar.

Just think how popular they would have been if there was MTV in the 1970's, they are perfect video ready rock figures which parents would just love to hate.

My Mom refused to buy me that blood spitting figure, since it creeped her out. Actually, I don't know if it really did that, I just remember telling her I want the one that spits blood, since I didn't know his name

See this, this was once in my little hands (I was 3) at one point:

I definitely agree about the drums on Creatures, they are powerful as hell. Great production on that one. Destroyer really is a great album too, gotta love King of the Night Time World, Do You Love Me? and of course Detroit Rock City. Kickass album.

Another tip, check out the new Alive IV. I just got it last week, and it's damn good in my opinion. Great versions of all the classics, cool orchestration and a pretty good production. Sounds great to me. Amazing that Paul Stanley still can sing pretty much as well as he did back in the day.

I actually saw KISS Live when they were on the Lick It Up Tour in 1984; and I thought Vinnie Vincent was a great Guitarist. He played really well the night I saw them.

I was disappointed when he was replaced by Bruce Kulick; who I never really liked. Vinnie seemed to fit in much better with KISS.

I agree that both Lick It Up and Creatures of the Night are very good albums.

Vinnie is much more an "Eddie Van Halen" type guitarist who loves any opportunity to show his stuff solo with very nice short ornate guitar florishes......with all respect to Ace Frehley, Vinne is the best axe man Kiss ever had.
