did anyone try it ? It looks quite nice and it should be a good price/quality ratio if it follows the rest of the Vincent products

Hi 00940.

I just shot the german distributor an e-mail to find out a bit more about it.

I asked for the price in germany and also requested some photos of the inside and a bit of that technobabel we all like so much.

I'll post, as soon as I have any more infos.

Dear Headfellows,

It happens to be that the world-wide distributor of Vincent products also is the distributor of Ultrasone. I'll ask tomorrow for more information on this amp. Sure looks nice :)

Dear Headfellows,

Well, today I ordered a test-copy of this amp. I will write you a small review as soon as I have done some thourough listening.

I have no more technical information than can be found on the address above.

Only can tell you that the MRSP of this amp is EUR 449,- (USD 500). Right now only 220V versions are available, but I'm promised that they're willing to make me a 110V version if I like the amp.

Cheers,

Jan

Thanks for the update Jan.

I haven't heard from the german distributor yet, so your info is very much appreciated.

I'm not much interessted myself as I've always prefered solid state over tubes but it's still nice to see a new headphone related component.

Maybe Vincent will do a solid state headphone amp sometimes...

Lukas: As far as I know, the Vincent amp has already been on the market for ~ 2 years - so it's not particularly new... The price tag seems a bit un-Vincent-like, too - I wonder how it would fare against an EMP...

Greetings from Munich (Thalkirchen for me - where are you?)! Nice to see another member in the neighbourhood...

Hi lini!

Maybe I'm not so up to date because it's a tubed headphone amp... But the price tag seems ok to me. 450€ for a good headphone amp isn't so much. Of course I don't know if it is actually good but who knows.

And now let's get completely off topic...

I'm working in Unterhaching and I'm living in Giesing. And I too think it's great to see someone around with the same disease.

I was actualy thinking about a small meet in Munich. But I'm quite occupied at work at the moment. But I really think a meet would be great because of the opportunity to try out new gear.

Well, I hope to hear from you again.

well, i've a few more infos. I went yesterday to pick up my rkv in germany and the seller already heard the vincent. According to him, it's basically a tubed preamp with a ss output. As he's an tube fans, he dislikes it as "too transistor like" but found it nice for the price.

Now that's interesting. A hybrid amp can have some very good sounding results (X-Can, Melos SHA series). I'm very curious where this amp falls in that continuum.

Lukas: I'm not far away - down in Thalkirchen. And I've lived between Giesing and Unterhaching in Fasangarten for quite a long time, before. I guess, with that close neighbourship, we should indeed manage to have a micro-meet sooner or later.

Greetings from the "Weltstadt mit Herz"!

It's well known in Europe that Vincent stuff is made in China. What's unclear is who designs the amps. German, chinese, both ? There's no way to know. Commercial agreements with Chinese OEM companies are not free and conditions often "strange".

What's sure is that their stuff is good.
