Ok, I've been looking on the WA6 for some time now and I still think it would be a good fit for my Senn HD650, if I would have lived in USA I would buy it without doubt, but now I live in Sweden... and that changes some stuff... First of all, if something is wrong with the amp I have to send it back all the way to US.... And then there are one more thing that I need some answers to (If any of you know..). If I buy from US and it gets delivered to Sweden, do I have to pay any Swedish Tax ? I've heard some people saying that... And as the Swedish Tax is 25% (!!!).... I can't afford that...

OK, now to my questions about the amplifier "Vincent KHV-1". First of is it worth it ? How does it compare to WA6 ? I will still consider the KHV-1 if some of you think that WA6 is a little better, this is my first headphone amp and I will think everything is better than what I have now

You can't say that I should use the search to find something about the Vincent, cause I allready have and there's not much of it or it's just old posts.... But in one thread there was some people that thought the KHV-1 was really good, especially with Senn HD650...

I don't need any professional answer about every detail and stuff... Just if Vincent KHV-1 is a good amp and if it's worth the price, as I said this is my first HP amp, so I will properly think every amp sounds good....

But I know that some amps doesn't work well with some headphones, mostly because of impedance... So it would be good to know if it works well with Sennheiser HD650..

I read some reviews in Chinese before. Vincent KHV-1 is on the swift side of the game with touch of warmth. They were designed in Germany, made in China. Woo amps on the musical side of game, designed by Chinese, made in US. Woo 6 SE, Woo 6 with cap upgrade, or even Woo 3+ with cap upgrade will be better amp for headphone use.

Vincent Co. is not headamp specialist.

Stereophile thought it was good, and I've read some other people liked it too... I expected that the WA6 would be better... But unless it's like day and night compared to Vincent KHV-1, I will probably buy the Vincent...'

EDIT: I still need more opinions and experience.... There most be someone that owns this amp here.... :/

I had the Vincent KHV-1 two years ago and it has my highest recommendations! Specially with the HD650 it was fantastic. I did not do any tuberolling while I had it. I know of a few people who really loves the KHV-1 and as a pre-amplifier they sway it also rocks.

The sound is full-bodied and very detailed. Maybe a very little bit to the warm side. I remember the first time I heard it with HD650 - I was blown away! I sold it back then because of space-problems but I have wanted to get it back several times since. Compared to the other Vincent KHV-111 (Which is not bad at all!) the KHV-1 is just way better. I had the Grace M902 at the same time and the Vincent won by far in listening pleasure and musicality - not in being the most neutral though.

When they reviewed Fatman/Deard MP-5 said it was all good too. But my WA22 is miles ahead. Even Woo 3+ was much better than MP-5. I heard all three.

I am late to the party on this thread. I own the Vincent KHV-1/pre and use it with the Senn HD-650; an outstanding combination. Both like to play loud and clearly sound best with the volume up. My music choice is classic Country & Western; Ray Price, Buck Owens and Webb Pierce are representative. I have been using the amp for eighteen months and have not had a single problem. Reliablility is a major issue for myself in any purchase; audio or otherwise. The Vincent has really delivered. Lordearl also owns the amp and has been swapping out tubes; he may have some useful comments. My amp is bog standard as are the 650's. No cable upgrades; although some may be useful. Hope this helps.

Good Evening Michael,

I am always willing to defer to a Head Fi'er with experience in both amps. Glad you enjoy the Woo Audio amp. I must admit to being intrigued by their products.

Goodmorning,

Great forum this is ! I learn lots of things reading the items...

I'm also in doubt, i own the Vincent S-6 MK cd player also (and a pre-amp and mono power amps. of Vincent)
and really love the sound of it. I want to upgrade with an headamp, but don't know which one yet. Untill now i listen to the output jack of
my cd-player. I would really like to know if the KHV-1 is really much better than the cd-output ? The problem is i can not try it at home and have to make a choice by reading from other owners.

The Woo audio amps looks also gorgeous, but i live in The Netherlands, so i have to pay alot of  import tax :frowning2:

The third option is to wait for the Musical Fidelity M-1 amp. which is for sale in august ?

Maybe there is someone who can help me a bit making a choice ?

with regards,
Arjan
