So, I've been really getting into Viking Metal Lately, along with some funeral doom and brutal death on the side. I've found that of the three, my collection is most limited in the viking arena. The bands which I have so far are:

Amon Amarth (not purely viking, but with strong odinist roots)
Einherjer
Ensiferium
Falkenbach
Helcaraxë
Helritt
Hildr Valkyrie
Paysage d'Hiver
Storm
Thryfing
Unleashed
Wyrd

I have, I believe, every einherjer album in existence and I love them. I'm also a fan of the viking stories present in Amon Amarth. Recommend me something that I'll find intriguing.

Oh, btw, this thread is also meant to be a discussion thread for viking fans, not only a recommendation thread. Hope we can get some good discussion started about our favorite bands!

Moonsorrow FTW. Anything they've released is gold. I'd recommend Kivenkantaja if you want something super epic and majestic. Or Voimasta Ja Kunniasta for a more raw feel but still waaay epic. Enjoy!

I have a pretty good knowledge of the Norse Mythology. I've recently converted to Odinism myself. I don't hate the Irish though, lol. One thing I'm not quite clear on in the mythology is whether or not it states that Ragnarok has already occurred and that the Gods are already dead. It seems that way when I read the Edda, but I still pray to Odin...its kind of confusing, but I don't take it literally anyway. Just a guide to living life.

yea Ragnorok has come and the all the old gods, pegan gods, have been ehuminsed, made to be human. at circa 1000 ad the christians sucessfully converted all the pagans into christian, Harold Bluetooth and Charlemaine ( my spelling is bad). as a matter of fact all the stuff, even the proese eddas were written by a christian, Snorri.....hmmmmm....eddas and sagas.
