I'm about to pickup a flash player that will do video playback. I think both the M6 and D2 play video back at 320x240 but is one screen larger than the other? Either excel in video quality over the other? I'm leaning towards the 8gb M6 but like the form factor of not seeing the buttons on the D2.

As for video quality, I already use a 5.5 ipod & zune. I find i like the larger zune screen but video quality (the blackness & gray scale is tons better on the ipod than the zune).

Which flash based player will it be? Thanks for your input.

I don't have either player (yet), but I do know that the M6 has a maximum frame rate of something like 18 fps so videos will look a little jerky and not as smooth as on the D2. The lower frame rate is most noticeable in fast moving action scenes, but I personally notice it all the time. The D2 is a no-brainer if video is the most important factor.

That's good info, thanks. I loaned out a movie converted to mp4 that plays fine in my ipod and mobile phone to someone with a blackberry 8800. It plays but pauses every so often like maybe the processor isn't able to keep up with the movie, i would hate that to happen with either the meizu or cowon.

Anyone know actual screen size if one is bigger than the other? I'm still confused from looking at the dimensions which has the larger screen. Here's what i mean about not understanding the size of the 2 players.

m6 - Compact size: Approx. 79mm*48.2mm*10mm(H*W*T), 2.4" 260K-color QVGA (320x240)
d2 - 78.0 X 55.4 X 16.6 mm (W x H x D), 2.5 inch 16 million color(24bit) TFT-LCD : QVGA (320x240)

How is it that the m6 overall dimension is smaller than the d2 but the screen size is practically the same? Don't the buttons on the m6 take up room?

I don't own the Meizu, but if video is a factor, the D2 will win hands down. The D2 screen is 2.5" and 16mil colors. HUGE difference. I love my D2 and the screen is incredible for something that small. I actually like the touch screen interface, I normally just use my finger vs pointer. I was thinking about a M6, just to hear it, because people rave about its sound.

Yeah D2 looks a lot smoother to me but it depends on what videos will be used. With my iRiver Clix and M6 i had no prob watching series like Friends for example b/c the pace is slow but for fast moving action scenes you need more than 20fps

I agree with what has been said. It depends on how much movie watching you will do or what you will be watching. Lower framerates are very noticeable when watching anything with a lot of action. However both are good with video and audio. If I was going to get one, the M6 is a lot better of a deal IMHO. I think I will be picking one up in the future. The touch screen is just too gimicky for me.

i'll agree the M6 is the better deal, 8gb and still less than the 4gb D2. Ultimately it is video quality i'm looking for. Touch screen or not, once the movie plays, i don't play with controls much anyway. It's one of those things if i saw the same movie playing on both players, if i could tell the difference in quality, i would buy the one that plays better video.

I suggest D2.

not to mention with the D2, there's also the option of TV-out, and since there is a new 8gb one around the corner, pop an 8gb SDHC card, and you have a 16gb flash player that does just about everything.

plus, you can just get some smaller SD cards and put movies on there, to save room on your actual player.

If video is at all a factor, I would go with the D2. Just the extra SD slot and the comming out of cheaper SD cards is enough reason for me. The only strike against it is the touch screen. I am told you either love it or hate it.
