Hey everyone, the other day I saw some guy playing the old Nintendo version of Super Smash bros. on his laptop with a controller connected directly to his laptop, apparently to a USB input, but I'm not sure. He also didn't have the Nintendo there. I think he was just using an emulator. I have always wondered how to connect my ps2 to my computer through USB preferably, but other ways would be nice too. Maybe you can plug it directly to the monitor. I have no idea. I like the idea of having the ps2 there with my computer, so I can use my own games, so I don't want an emulator. I can't seem to find any solutions other than a TV Tuner, which can easily be over a hundred dollars. I would just like to play video games on my computer, without paying much at all.

Thanks guys!

You need some kind of tv tuner, one that doesn't lag... I don't have much experience with tuners but looking at newegg.com they have plenty.

$30 If you read some of the reviews, people have connected their ps2 with no problems.
You can also use a transcoder(X2VGA) which connects directly to the monitor but can cost a little more than a tv tuner.
Ps2 emulators are still in early development = Crap lol

I have super smash bros N64 with emulator and controllers its virtualy glitch free and very good fun with freinds. You need the following:
original N64 controller (not clear ones special editons etc)
USB PS + N64 converter (they are sold on EBAY)
project 64 emulator 1.6 (or 1.7 if you want to pay)
super smash ROM image - available from various shady corners of the the web or from a cartrige if you ahve a means of reading it.

Problem with tv tuners is there is about a second delay while the image is proccesed making them unsuitible (this has been my experiance with haupage cards).

Ps2 emulation is not good but ps1 emulation is for some games better than the PS1 (better graphics) and very well done by EPSXE

Avoid the cheap vga boxes on ebay like the plague, some won't work at all with a LCD, and none of them handle transferring an interlaced source to your monitor well, let alone output higher resolution (1080p if your games support it!). Get the x2vga2, (not the older x2vga or x2vga+, those were for xbox only) your ps2 will look fantastic on your monitor with it.

I've used my ATI TV Wonder pro to hook up my PS2 and it works perfect. In addition to cable connections, this card also accepts component and s-video. Highly recommended, and its sad I can't use it properly anymore with Vista and all its HDCP protection.
