Hi guys,

first of all: very nice forum here, it's a pleasure to join you.

As it is said in the title, I need a new pair of IEMs for my IPod Classic and I mainly listen to funk and hiphop, but it's rather alternative Hiphop like Madlib, MF Doom and his alter egos, Quasimoto, (well, almost anything from Stones Throw), Jazz Liberatorz, , Roots, J-Live, Jurassic 5, People Under The Stairs...could go on all day long, I guess

. A lot of crossover between Hiphop, Funk and Jazz. Also some blend with electro, like Birdy Nam Nam, DJ Shadow and RJD2. Gosh, there's so much great music out there

.

After spending pretty much all afternoon doing reading here, I sort of narrowed it down to:

- V-Moda Vibe (Can be found on Ebay for an incredible price, are those for real???)
- UE Metro.fi 220
- Head-Direct RE2 + Fiio E5
- Nuforce NE-7M (would also go nicely with my HTC Touch HD and I could actually use the microphone)

As you can guess from my selection, my budget would be around $60-70, I gave the headphones ordered by their price having them shipped to Germany (anyone in Europe having experience with ordering the Nuforce and paying taxes??). I have to add, that I'll be in the US end of march for about 11 days to visit a friend of mine in Ithaca, so I have the possibility to order something from the US and have it sent to my friend, if it's worth the wait.

I read, that the Nuforce are incredible for hiphop, because of their bass, but since I don't listen to the "classic" Hiphop in a certain sense, I also read that the RE0 would rate pretty high for alternative hiphop, like I listen to, so how about the RE0?

I'm also open for other suggestions and thankful for any help I can get.

V-Moda Vibe - IMO not worth it
UE Metro.fi - Never heard them but until you get to higher price brackets I'd go with one of the cheaper chinese brands (just as good if not better)
RE2 - Not what you want, analytical
NE-7M - probably closest to what you want (more bass).

For hip-hop/rap you'll want a phone with good vocals and good bass. I might recommend (if you can find one) the cyclone PR1/2 Pros, the Klipsch S4, or maybe that new thinksound Thunder. How much money are you willing to spend?

Thank you already. Well, I could go with an upgrade up to $80 if it's worth it

. I read about the Klipsch, which seems to be incredible for its price. I found the Klipsch and the Cyclone PR2-Pro on Ebay. The Klipsch from India, I'm not sure if it's real or fake, for about $90 (I guess that would be my limit, but I could buy them in the US for $80 at amazon, when I'm there) and the Cyclone for $65 from China. The Cyclones can also be found on the gyrotech site, anybody experience with them? So which one is to prefer? I couldn't find the Thinksound Thunder...

the nuforces are great as well.

Bought my sister a V-moda vibe for $30 shipped, and she's very happy about it (Same music preferences as you). I find the bass to be a tad bit bloated, but im waiting for the post burn-in..

i like the sound though, which i think is what's important for a casual hobbyist, more the the accuracy and neutrality (which honestly, bore me)..
