Not sure where to begin finding someone to make a cable for this headset.

Basically it is a 5 pole 3.5mm with a slim housing into the left ear cup. Then at the other end it splits into a 3.5mm stereo for the headphone, and a 3.5mm for the microphone.

The stock cable has a remote inline that just sucks, the volume pot is dodgey as and its pointless. So wanting to just make it a straight cable.

I guess my other option is cut the remote out and solder each wire back together and patch.

Did you ever find a replacement cable option? I have the exact same issue with this headset. The right channel will constantly cut out, and it can only be fixed by fiddling with the in-line volume control until I can hear from both ears again.

Very disappointing product considering the $300 price tag and the fact that this is a "2nd gen" of the product that was supposed to be fixed. I really expected more from a company like Beyerdynamic.

Yeah pair of 2nd gen MMX 300s is also a big disappointment. Crap cables and socket and low audio.

Anybody should be able to make up a compatible cable. But that will not fix the lousy sockets. Probably it needs to be resocketed to be reliable and after my experience so far I am not going to throw any money on it.

Contact the Beyerdynamic North America repair company. Richard or Rio will know the part number and likely they have them in stock. They even have the 600ohm DT770 drivers to upgrade your MMX300 to the 600ohm edition only available in the EU for $58 per driver. I've owned almost every Beyerdynamic (except the DT660 and ear buds).

I've received cable from CN today. It looks OK to me, will test tomorrow...
EDIT: Works fine. :)
