wouldn't want to give my 2999 on this but got me surprised on this visual joke .. quite disturbing , in 15 secs my eyes were not able to see the pink dots circle too ..
I might need some glasses..

Try remaining steady on the black cross without blinking Lisa. I think if you stray even slightly away from the cross (or if you blink) you get the pink dots back.

This is happening in our visual systems most likely because of sensory saturation. (A biologist or physician can very likely explain much better.)

No offence but I'd get my eyes checked if I were you. If you relax our eyes like that from this close a distance everything should go blurry.

I think I'm probably moving my eyes a bit when the pink disappears

way cool. i find that the pink disappears more easily when i say to myself (in my head at least) "black cross, black cross, black cross..." while i'm staring at the black cross.

You're quite wrong, I did exactly that and it worked just fine for me. concentrate on the black cross to see the green dot, then stare off into space at the black cross to see the pink ones dissapear. Quite cool

you have to keep your eyes still at the dot and not move them around or blink. if you move your eyes or blink the pink dots will come back.

there's another optical illusion for computer only i've seen. theres a chequered board and a cylindrical prism standing up around the middle of the board. if you slowly erase one of the shaddowed (due to prism) grey squares something changes colour to the same colour as one of the other squares. i forgot exactly how it looked like

anyone know this one? at the start of the illusion before you start erasing in mspain or photoshop the squares look very different shade of grey, but if you use the colour tester in photoshop you see its exactly the same as proof even though they look VERY different.

It should also be proof enough, we don't always hear what we think we hear.

This is a very interesting remark. Indeed, who knows, there might be some similar sensory saturation type of thing in our hearing under special circumstances.
