You can not evaluate Zen2.0, by alternately with the other models, just give yourself some time with them in a few days, and maybe you will be able to assess them merits, IMHO

"balanced" is a horrible vague term... I use it all the time :veryevil:

Earbuds thread? black is balanced. powering your Zen is the key to inner piece

Had a look but never found anything. No proper reivews, though plenty of the 2.0. Just looking for some kind of quantification, or justification for spending $360 instead of $150. Big cash difference.

Got a FiiO X5ii and will find a decent power source for them, though not sure I want a 9v battery option.

Thanks

I have bought a used zen 2.0. I have almost 20 earbuds from $3 to $35, I thought that these buds would be a significant difference with the ones in my collection (Qian, Monks, ****, Musicmaker, Sony, etc) due to the cost difference but was not the case.

I always start with a new ones listening tones and pink noise, I found in the Zen's a moderate highs with some peaks, a poor bass with no sub bass, and mids raised that produces voices in front very spectacular, by I consider them unbalanced and not the sound I was expecting.

Maybe I am not used to them yet and need to try them more, but my first impression is disappointing.

uhhhh what amp and source are you using???????????????????????????????? also, who sold them to you?

I bough in a local forum and tested with the Fiio E7/E10 combo that I have in my bedroom. Source was a Xiaomi phone.

I will try with my X3 player, and other sources - amps.

Fiio combo has enough power for them as I was using it at very low volume. I have used a lot my Xiaomi phone to listen earbuds (connected to its output or through an external dac) and is a decent source.

The point annoys me more is the lack of bass, I am right now using a MDR-808+ received also this week and it has more bass, less highs roll off and maintain voices upfront and sound really open. I am enjoying the Contemporary Vocals channel from Jazzradio.com, one of my favorites. A real gem for the cost.
