I have to say that I am really buying these designs at first sight, and made a few improvements to these using material I had available. Chris does know what he is talking about.

The mods are simple. I replaced the teflon tube in the middle with some polymer type braided tubing, and used magnet wires because I had them. I think the thin enamel that tops the copper is a very good dielectric in the virtue of its thinness. I then used another layer of this tubing with a larger diameter to cover and protect the magnet wires. The other mod I made was to double up on the conductor used on the negative end, as opposed to Venhaus' symmetrical design. Teflon tape was used in several places to hold the wire in place, on top of the grip the wires already have on the inner tube. The result? Very nice looking ICs with a well-defined and extended sound.

The tricky part is termination, I had quite a bit of trouble holding the outer tubing onto the 8mm locking RCA plugs, as the outer tubing did make nice contacts with the plug, but heatshrink was not enough to hold it in place. I had to resort to the use of some double-sided tape as a result.

I shall keep you posted on later events.

Interesting- Any chance for a picture? Is the tube you used kind of rigid so it doesn't squish much?
