Leather. It looks better and feels better to me, and I don't sweat. Velour is also harder to keep clean.

I wonder if some people here aren't lumping synthetic leather in with real leather? Not too many headphones use real leather pads (R10, Omega II, Qualia, W5000, W2002, L3000, Edition 7). If it's velour vs. pleather I'll take neither

My leather pads have kept clean and nice over the last year, no maintanence required yet. When I had velour pads they'd always collect dust and debris, looking nasty until they were cleaned.

- Velour is like having fuzzy socks strapped to your head.
- Pleather feels cheap and traps heat
- Grado foam is like sandpaper
- Leather is sweeeet

I do have a bit of a leather fetish...not quite fetish but er...a love for leather...haha.

Its leather all the way for me, something about the smoothness and softness thats just hard to get over. Velour is just fuzz...and as others have mentioned, attracts a lot of dust.

This is an easy decision!

Velour: it's more comfortable and nothing had to die to produce it.

for my personal use I prefer VELOUR overall . . . . . comfy

except:
1- For closed cans that are used for portable use, I prefer pleather for a better seal.

2- For active use (exercise etc) pleather again for cleaning/sanitary reasons.

3- For cans used by others (such as a 'listening station' in a record shop) I prefer pleather, because it can be easily semi-disinfected using an alcohol prep.

I have.
Omega II, MDR SA-5000 and W5000.
I'm definitely part of the minority here.
I do prefer the look and (more important) the feel of leather.

Quick question, do the lower or older Stax headphones (202. 303. 404. lambda, lambda pro, sigma, srx etc) use leather pads? I know the SR-007 does, and I believe the SR-Omega did.

Also, doesnt the HE90 use leather pads?

Finally, a poll I want to participate in! Black Velour all the way! It's on my HP2, my K81DJ, and my Darth Beyers!

I prefer real leather too. I couldnt wear my K701 during hot summer days, so there's no difference regarding the heat issue for me.
After i got my AD2000 ill probably put some W5000 pads on them too, makes them look alot more classy

As long as it is real leather, not that pleather crap, I would take leather any day over velour. Velour is very comfortable, but there is just something about leather that I just love.
