It is difficult to convince someone who has himself decided everything for himself and does not want to try something new. In any case, it is clearly outdated information and are based on a lack of personal experience in the use of earbuds form factor, IMHO :hushed:

I've had similar conversations with people about earbuds. They got a really bad wrap long ago because, quite frankly, they sucked. The ZEN however, in no way suck and are absolutely fantabulous!!!

The one being quoted saying that earbuds suck was me.

You guys have me pegged all wrong.  I am not closed-minded!  If my info about earbuds is outdated, then I am willing to change my opinion on them, for sure!

I am certainly not the type to form preconceived notions and then prove stubbornly unwilling to change my views.  In fact, I find people who do so to be extremely obnoxious, haha.  I always try to stay rational and scientific in my thought processes, and when it comes to something like audio science I follow the logical course of the scientific method.

I find this all very interesting, actually.  Because from what I know of the issues involved, the engineering problem of making earbuds have low distortion and good bass is a very, very VERY difficult one, close to being almost insurmountable.  But frmo what everyone is saying, it looks like Venture Electronics has managed to solve that long-standing problem.  That is quite fascinating, indeed!

I would love to listen to the Zen sometime to see what the hype is all about :)

Where can I actually buy them?  I did a search for VE Zen, Venture Electronics Zen, etc. on google, and can't seem to find stores selling them!

Not that the first one was bad by any means, second one is using much improved magnets to be begin with. a custom shell as you might have seen in the pics here. And I think that despite the 320 OHM impedance, it sounds better out of portable devices now. The cable is also much easier to deal with.

Funny thing is that while the outside looks quite different, the sound is even more improved from what i am told.

Was told price will be similar to cost of Zen 1.0 (~which was $128 USD iirc). Final price remains to be seen.

Nice!

So hold up hold up. Does Venture Electronics have a homepage?  Why can't I seem to find any such thing?

I think I might buy a pair of the Monk just to get an initial listen to what all the hype is about, since it's only five bucks which can't really hurt my wallet at all :p

Edit:  So what info is there available on the Duke and Asura?  How well does the Asura compare to the Zen, and how much better is it than the Monk?  And what are the Asura's specs?

Neat!  Good review, man.

So you haven't really listened to the Asura much at all?  I'm wondering, just how much of a "step-down" from the Zen is the Asura?

has anyone tried the Zen with the Plenue 1? how's the synergy and overall SQ? at 3ohms output impedance, do you think the P1 can drive the Zen with authority?
