does anyone know if any of the new generation mp3 players support VBR playback? Of particular interest are the Nomad Jukebox, Slimx, and Ipod.

I got a SlimX a couple of weeks ago. Plays VBR mp3s fine. I've tried MM Jukebox and LAME encoded vbr mp3s. Make sure you download and install the firmware upgrade from the IRiver site.

I've been quite happy with it. Of course, it needs an amp when use with power hungery phones.

I really don't think any of the new players that have come out DON'T support VBR.
