Well, I had some extra Christmas money and decided to see if Guitar Center would honor their price matching policy and printed off an ad for the V700's for $84.00 and out I walked with my shiny, silver, gaudy cans. They don't sound too bad with my Panasonic SL-CT790 or my MZ-E90 minidisc player. But where they sounded really nice was with my D-25S. Since the D-25S is on the bright, steely side of things, it actually meshed quite well with the V700's mid-bass hump. And since the signal from the D-25 is so strong, and has no bass boost, it's a darned good match.
For the price, I'm very happy. I can use these in the club to hear how the band sounds as their being put on tape, and they're good fun cans (albeit inaccurate) for rock and especially hip-hop/rap, where the music isn't too sonically demanding. A decent all-arounder, much nicer for me than the 7506's, which tend to kill me with the upper mid/lower treble forwardness.
Flame away, and happy holidays...
