Hey, I'm kinda new to this whole headphone audiophile deal. I'm basically looking for a set of intro headphones. I've spent a couple hours looking around. My budget is going to be under 120 bucks.
I would prefer open cans to closed, but not a big deal. I mainly need them to sound good, and be comfortable for several hours of wear. A big portion of my time with these will probably be listening to music, which I listen to lots of electronic/industrial, as well as play games. I'd also be using these for some home studio work too.
After all the reviews I've read, it sounds like the V6's are probably the best under 100 bucks. The panasonic ht970's (couldn't find anything on here about that) have great sound. Extremely deep base and good mids and decent highs. Though thats my first set of headphones I've tried. They're my roommates, so I was thinking of getting a pair fo those. So I thought I'd see if you guys have ever compared these two models.
What do you think?

Welcome to Head-Fi (what's the dying greeting again?).

I own the V6's and like them much for closed cans, but if you prefer (or are open to) open headphones, the Alessandro MS1's for $99 shipped is the best bang for buck for your price point.

Seriously, I like the V6's, but they don't stand up to the Grado sr-80's or MS1's (similar to sr-125's).

Might as well make your roommate jealous.

EDIT: WHAT??? Are you considering the Panasonic RP HT970 Brain Shaker Heaphones? Screw that. Get the MS1's. They'll shake your brain and a few things south.

Hrm, well, come to think of it, I hate open cans. Not really sure why I was thinking I'd consider one. I've always thought they were the most uncomfortable phones. I'll probably give those V6's a try.
Yeah, brainshaker... dumb, but they do sound good though, or I htought. then again, I haven't compared them to any other decent headphones... Damn good soundstage
