i know this has been discussed before, but there are a lot of opinions on the net that the 7506s sound better (even if it's just due to manufacturing process or tweaks)

so i was wondering if anybody even HAS COMPARED these two, side by side?

Have you done a search on the subject, I believe this has been discussed at length on these forums already. Spend a bit of time and I'm sure your question will be answered.

IMO NO, this could be to any manufacturer errors, this only prove that the encloures are similars, nothing about the drivers, there is a comparison in another website, shown below, that shows some graphics with difference in mesuments in both headphones, and a whole review made by a person who had both in his hands, and take the time and dedication to do it, the rest are just subjective ideas but not a sigle comparison side by side......if they are the same, this could be a case for the court, this is a fraud, there is a substantial diffeence in price between both, and the golden plug does not justify that difference......

Please do a search before you ask such a well-worn question.

Sovkiller, that link has been discussed ad nauseum.

The answer is that they are the exact same headphones apart from a different colored miniplug and a sticker on the side. This has been verified by listening tests and by Sony.

The only plausible explanation I was given as to why they might sound different is control issues that Sony has with the headphones -- that there is some variety from batch to batch. I have a pair of each, and they do, indeed, sound different, but were purchased years apart.

The measured variance in the article might well be within said variance, since no-one actually measured the variance.

Again, NOBODY has prove that yet....wahtever a technician believes, is not an evidence, is just a subjective assumption, and just assumptions, but I've never read any statement made by Sony itself, that agreed that these two products are the same, if this statemnt exists, please would anybody provide us with that link, I would like to read it, just for curiosity, as I'm not interested in any, but there is a difference in price, and a golden plug is not the cause.....

Sony wouldn't necessarily jump up and say "OK they're the same". It wouldn't be in they're best interests for two reasons:

1) They woudn't be able to sell everyone that has the V6's a pair of 7506's if they said they were the same.

and

2) The 7506's carry a higher msrp, whereas the V6's were considerably cheaper at one time. I'm not sure that's the case now however.

William, I agree with you in that, but there could be also others reasons, and one of them, could be that maybe they, in fact, are not the same product, as everybody believes, or maybe a very similar product, the measurements are not the same for both, you saw that, and IMO THIS IS an evidence, right? But also yes, IIRC, they are still in the same case, IIRC they still have different msrp, so if they are the same, this could be considered as a fraud, right?
And maybe at the end, they are, I do not say that they could not be the same, just that this statement is too serious to be sustained like that, and the fact is, that NOBODY HAD PROVED that, and someone had provide some evidence of the difference in sound, if someone write to Sony, and get an answer please let us know, I would like to see them agreed in a fraud....

OTOH some people belive also that the 7509 and the V900 are the same, and they are not, I had both, opened both, and IIRC, it was long time ago, they were slight differences between both drivers, IIRC, the drivers on the 7509 are more similar ot the V700DJ, that to the V900 in fact...

Back on topic, the 7506 and V6 had no difference in practice. Duncan and I compared the two and any differences were probably down to how much the headband was bent. Such variations were truly miniscule... To all intents and purposes they are the same.

They are basically the exact same phone; the differences being a sticker on the side and different material plugs.

Otherwise identical.

This has been the consensus on head-fi for quite some time and has as MacDEF said been discussed to great lengths already with a conclusion having already been agreed upon.

Cheers,
