I'm new to earphones. Planning to get a good earphone for my ipod video 60gig. Did some research and found some good reviews for V-MODA Vibe. Are there any better recommendations such as Shure or Sennheiser or Ultimate Ears or some other brands, something which cost about the same as V-MODA Vibe with better sound quality and bass?

Most people will recommend the Crossroads MylarOne X3 for $57. I haven't heard them but they get pretty good reviews and can be bought from Jaben, over in the sponsors box. If you can get an early pair of Vibes they are great, the later pairs seem to have worse sound quality. I have an early pair and I love them, but again, I haven't heard the newer ones.

the second gen had worse SQ than 1st. We are in 3rd gen now which is supposed to impove (supposedly). Anyway, I had vibes AND mylarone x3's. Guess what... I sold the vibes and kept the x3's!

BTW theres already an entire vibe thread here http://www.head-fi.org/forums/showthread.php?t=208981 toward the last few pages its mostly just complaints about the headphones. I seriously dont think they're worth the money. @ $57 the x3's sound better.

The bass on the x3 is very adequate. The XB just has more of it. I would just go with the X3's.

I just to my Super.fi 5 Pros today and find the bass incredible with flat EQ and handles bass extremely well with boosted bass almost to the point of sounding like a movie theater-like booms.

I own the Shure E2, E500 and just sold my E4's. I find the E2 and E500 to be brighter than the superfi5pro but the bass is best on the Sfi 5 imo. It may change once I give them more time but for now I'm impressed. EQ adjustments make the Superfi 5 pro's impressive and I find them more fun and not as harsh as the e500 for long listening periods.

I think the super fi 5 is pretty comparable to the X3's in terms of overall sound quality. The price sure is different though.
