Did you mean that small plastic cork to cover the hole on the ear cup when there is no cable plugged in?
Just turn it left, and then you can simply pull it out. I use my nails. It is quite stiff, to make sure you won't loose it. :)

Nope I tried using tweezers and it doesn't work. Probably it is defective since the first time I swapped the cork from the right connector It was easy for me to remove it. Do you think they will replace my headphones if I send them back for this?

It can be tricky to remove. Just keep on trying. At first I was struggling to remove it, but as soon as you get how it works, it is quite easy.
If you are able to turn the cork, it is not damaged. Make sure you turn it to the left, and then try to pry it out gently. :)

I am pulling it as hard as I can using pincers but it just wont come out. And it does not let me do the full rotation. I did not have a problem removing the cork from the other connector. I messaged the support lets see what they will suggest cause I AM gonna ask for new ones if it does not work out. Thanks anyway guys. I hope they are gonna accept replacement with new headphones.

It doesn't do a full rotation...maybe 270 degrees.  One way is lock, one way is unlock.  Use some needlenose pliers to pull it out if your fingernails don't work.

I've been thinking about picking up a pair of M-100's and would love some help on whether I should pull the trigger.

My main system at home is Bottlehead Crack/Speedball > HD-600, and my portable setup is D90x > Westone w4r. Most of my listening will be at home. The HD-600's sound great, but sometimes I like to sit in another room with either the D90x or my MBP/Dragonfly. Also it would be nice to have another option when I'm flying, although I don't do all that much travel.

I've recently been listening to a lot of ambient electronic music and modern classical. Would the M-100's do well with that style of music? I like the sound of the w4r IEM's a lot, but wouldn't mind something with more bass, and they can also be a pain to take in and out if I'm just going to listen to a song or two.

Any thoughts or advice would be much appreciated. Are there other portable models that I should be considering as well?

The M100 is a fantastic headphone that can handle just about any music genre, especially bass oriented ones.  That said, I've got a pair of Oppo PM3s when I just don't want the bass rumble and those are ridiculously good as well.  I simply cannot decide between the two so I said forget it, I'm keeping both.  I'd check out both.

Thanks for the reply, I really appreciate it. At the moment I'm leaning towards the M-100 because of the additional bass, but I've heard that the Oppos are outstanding. The w4r IEM's sound pretty neutral to me, so I could always use those when I don't want the "rumble".

I think, for what you want, do not look further. M-100 seems to meet your needs.

I also have the HD-600s with the iFi Micro iCan, and they do sound awesome. Exceptional space and fidelity.
Although I did miss some bass with my electronic music genres.
So I also started to look for a closed can, that I can take with me on the go occasionally.
After a long research I decided to buy the M-100, and I did not regret it. Great, enjoyable, bassy sound. But very clear overall. Momentums might have more detail, but lacks in bass compared to the M-100 (more neutral, natural headphones), and PM3 is just too expensive. ATH-M50 is a very popular alternative, but reviews prefer the M-100 over them. NAD-HP50 was also on my list, I let them go for different  reasons. The winning factor in my case was the price. I bought my M-100 for £142 brand new. While the PM3 for example is £349.
And I doubt, they are more than 2 times better.
M-100 is just much fun with any kind of music that has some electronic element in it. Do not expect high fidelity acoustic instrument sound reproduction, but with contemporary music it is simply addictive, a lot of fun. You won't take it off from your head. :)

Thanks so much... That's a great rundown of your experience. For me, the difference in cost of the PM3 and the M-100 with XL pads would only be about $50, but I'm not sure the PM3 sound signature would be enough of a difference from the headphones I already have. I bet they sound great though.

I had ATH-M50's a few years back, but didn't enjoy them at all. They had decent sound but I found them cold & analytical for the most part... plus the clamping force was too extreme for my taste.  I'm sure the Momentum's are excellent, but I'd love to get something other than Sennheiser for this purchase.

Thanks for your impression of the sound as well.  I wouldn't be expecting insane levels of fidelity, just a fun sound with ambient/electronic and hip-hop genres. It does seem like they would be a nice match for me.

If this is your goal, then M100s every time.  I love my PM3s, but when I want the fun sound, especially when listening to hip hop, I always reach for my M100s.

Do not expect high fidelity acoustic instrument sound reproduction,

That is,...without some serious EQ'ing. With proper EQ settings, this can sound awesome with the M-100. For example (as I mention within that link), the song "Name" by the Goo Goo Dolls doesn't sound so great through the M-100 without an EQ. But with the right EQ settings (specifically detailed in that link) played through the M-100, the song "Name" will absolutely blow you away.

Sold. Now I need to find a good deal on one and put in an order. Do you guys have any preferred sites for these? I see a few on eBay for around $200 but might prefer to go new, to avoid potential issues.

Amazon.com has them for $249 (assuming you want one of the black models)...I'd much rather pay for new, with the fakes that are out there.  No need to risk it to save a few bucks.  Buy official and then you have recourse if you get fakes...return policies and whatnot.
