I tried it and it still favors the right cup. Switching the audio cable does not help as well. The difference in the sound is not that big but still it annoys me.

I always thought my left ear cup was louder, but then I realized that clearly I have a slight imbalance w/ my hearing in my right ear.  It's very slight and actually doesn't affect IEMs, only full sized headphones...so that might be an issue w/ you too.  I mostly use portable players that have balance options and I have to have it one tick to the right (on my X5II for example), to make me feel like it's balanced out.

You know what, I was using XL ear pads and changed back to stock as the support from v-moda suggested. I think this solved my problem and the sound is more balanced. Maybe I did not put the XL pads correctly. Anyway thanks for your response. Appreciate it! :))

See I definitely notice the difference between the xl pads and the regular. I'll have to go back and see if that helps my imbalance too. Maybe it is just the fact that the speakers are further from my ears even if it's just minimal. Like I said I don't have issues w the IEMs. Interesting.

Make sure the pads are are attached perfectly. Easy to miss a "click point". Also make sure the 'cork' is in.
I find the XL pads light years better than the stock ones. Even though I have small ears, so I did not have fitting issues. But it is much more comfortable, and it might sound a bit more spacious.
I love my M-100s, how exciting, lively and fun they sound compare to most of the other headphones. I have just given an another try to my IE80s before I sell them, and even they sound 'pale', lifeless and boring compared to the M-100s. :)

The earcups of the M-100s relatively easily pop out from the clamp of the metal bands. is that normal? Is it a positive or a negative?

Finally I am able to enjoy the sound of these headphones as I moved back to the XL pads putting them back correctly. The part of the frame of the ear pads which is flat should coincide with the square on the body of the headphone(I do not not the terminology but you can see a square when u remove the ear pad). Now I can see the improvement and the sound is truly addictive! Btw I find it very hard to remove the cap of the cord. Do u guys know how to remove it I tried spinning in both directions and it doesn't work.

It's a safety feature. Did you pop them out with your hands or did it happen when you dropped them?

Did you mean that small plastic cork to cover the hole on the ear cup when there is no cable plugged in?
Just turn it left, and then you can simply pull it out. I use my nails. It is quite stiff, to make sure you won't loose it. :)

how thick are the xl pads? i mean do they make the headphones look bulky? how thick are they in comparison to the sony mdr1a or the xb950bt's pads? thanks!

They are not bulky at all. Slightly bigger than the stock pads, but still a completely natural look. (And much more comfortable.) In my opinion the Sony"s pads look bulkier, especially the xb950bt.
Check my other profile pic with the M-100s. That is with the XL pads, and they do not look "XL" size.
