i am in japan studying right now, and ive noticed some good deals on electronics, espcially used. they dont want it if its a year old here.

i am thinking of taking a denon s10 III home, but im worried. they use 100v here, so its slightly different. does anyone know if this will affect the player/peformance at all?

toodles.

American power outlets output around 117V, greater than the 100V that Japanese electronics are built to handle. Your player might work fine, and people have reported that with portable Japanese gear it's not usually a huge problem. But you'd best be off having someone modify the power supply to handle 117V (usually an easy modification) or, barring that, purchase a step-down transformer that outputs 100V.

so will the performance be affected, or is it just possible that the electronics will be damaged by the different voltage?

The electronics could be damaged if you overload the power supply. I'm not sure about performance. You might do well to search some of the MiniDisc websites like http://www.minidisc.org or http://www.minidisct.com to find user opinions. I doubt most of these guys are audiophiles, but there are some contributors to those sites here so you might find some information on sound quality.
