THIS PROJECT, FOR NOW, HAS BEEN ABANDONED.

..BUT LIKE A NINJA................................YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN IT MIGHT STRIKE AGAIN......

PS: For historical purposes only, I have a saved copy of the list in word pad you can download it here........
bare in mind it could be wildly inaccurate by now.

This is dumb.

My K340 cost about $130 including shipping, transfer fees, and a round of beers for the east berlin spy network.

I also think the low average for a used dt770 should be lower than $20 less than they cost brand new.

It's not THAT bad of an idea, but the prices vary way to much and there are to many headphones for it to be practical.

05+? Cuz I've never seen em under 200.

You keep talking about all these ridiculous deals you get. You're the only person I've seen to get these kind of deals so I don't consider your statements accurate at all in comparison to the list. He seems pretty on the dot.

Totally useless- the current market determines the price. The market changes depending on the number of people looking, Flavor of the Month, time of day, time of year, inclination of the seller etc. The price of an item is the price a person is willing to pay not what another person was willing to pay.

Besides I’m not going to tell you how much a person paid me for an item- it’s the buyers business and I’m not going to tell you what I paid for an item- it’s my business. Also the listed price in a For Sale ad isn’t necessarily the price the item sold for so you’d be basing all your data on inaccurate information.

What I find interesting is if you pay attention and put in the time you’ll know what the market is and what is a good price- it’s the benefit of being an active member of Head-Fi. I view this type of price listing as a lazy mans way of doing business- you want some one else to do the work for you.

I’d personally rather see a Head-Fi member who is active get a good deal on a pair of headphones rather than a newby show up, read a price listing, grab a good deal and never be heard from again.

There are tangible rewards for participating on Head-Fi.

A) That's why it's a GUIDE, not set in stone.

B) It's not a list of headphone values, it's a list of asking prices over the last 6 months.

No. The DT990 has a long and glorious history dating back to about 1989. Mine were probably made in the early 90's.

Edit: Beyerdynamic says the DT990 and DT770 were introduced in 1985.

The 2003 version was selling for $169 on amazon.com in 2003 - for about 9 months.

My DT770 was cheap because it came with bent forks and a blown driver. I straightened out the forks myself and bought a new driver for about $47 shipped. Total cost: About $88 including shipping.

My K340 was cheap because i bought it from the Land of Many K340's aka www.ebay.de. It was about $96usd before shipping, logistics, and hopped beverages.

Anybody with a friend in Deutchland can pull this off. Every now and then you find a german seller who has a paypal account, but it's uncommon. The austrian guy i bought my K145 from had a paypal account.

Still - you can buy brand new DT770 Pro's for $150 all day long on ebay and at any GuitarCenter with a salesman that's easily spooked by the spectre of the intertubes, so $130 is a bit rich for a used pair.

I'm an agressive shopper, but these deals are not unheardof.

Did a GS1000 really sell for only 600 bucks? Making this the definitive list really would screw future sellers of this can, who really should ask more than that for a 1000 buck can.

How do you intend for this to function? Is it your intent to incorporate additions/corrections from other head-fiers in your original post? Or is this purely from your eyeballs, i.e. are you planning to update the prices as new for sale posts appear? The latter will be substantial work.

Perspective The freedom we are given on head-fi cuts both ways. Without hindrance from moderators, sellers are free to remove their asking price after a sale and others are free to post a history of these prices. Freedom of expression is a good thing. It seems to me that restricting access to economic information avails an opportunity to exploit the power in that information--a good circumstance only for those who possess the (restricted) knowledge.

Thanks.

Like i said, it's a dumb idea.

You pay the price that you end up paying. No more, no less. I won't buy a K240 Sextett until the opportunity comes along at less than $50 shipped. This may mean it takes years, but, I have plenty of cans to keep me distracted between now and then, and i don't care if it's in pristine condition as long as all the acoustic elements are intact.

People can and do sell used SR60's for $60, even though you can get new ones for close to that from TTVJ.

And if you ask me, all sennheisers are overpriced, even the HD25sp i got for $22 shipped.
