Hi

Sorry for a slightly offtopic question. Seeing all talks about USB DACs I figured someone might know the answer to this. I regularly travel to one place where they have this D-Link USB DSL modem for internet connectivity. It never worked for me even after called support and made sure all settings are correct. I'm 95% sure that problem is that my laptop USB ports do not provide enough power for that modem (its powered only from USB, no power connectors). So what I need is a "thing" that takes USB data from my laptop USB port, power from wallwart and feeds it all via a single USB port to the USB modem. Is it possible ?

Yes. You should search for a "powered USB hub".

I second the powered USB hub. I have a 2.5" drive in a USB enclosure that has the same problem on my desktop and the powered hub gets it working fine.

Thanks. Was mostly worried that USB data signal is relative to power ground or something like that and just wiring power to wallwart will burn a chip or two.
