Hey guys, I just bit the bullet and ordered some UE Custom IEMs. They are being cooked at the moment and I should have them end of this week.

I would like to have a decent USB DAC amp to use with my PC primarily but with good potential for use with an iMod down the road.

So far I'm trying to decide which would be best for use with USB for my current setup. I know I would probably be better off with a $2,000 amp and dedicated DAC but for now I just want something portable and easier on the wallet while I try to recover from the hit.

So far I've narrowed down the choices to the Corda Move, Headroom Total Bithead and a few others.

Thanks for the input!

Ya but I'm using an umodded Xfi. I know from experience that devices such as the move do sound considerably better.

I think I'll just go with a Move since I haven't heard a single bad thing about it and seems to be at the top of most everyones preferences who have compared several portable amps.

the move will be better than whats in your computer for two reasons.

1)the DAC in the X-Fi will pick up noises in the computer and transfer them to the amp. the move will be outside your computer bypassing that "problem"

2)the move selects itself as the default sound device when you plug it into the USB, so you could switch your desktop speakers and headphones almost seamlessly

Well I wanted some opinions from people who possibly has experience with the different combinations of porta amps and UE custom IEMs.

I use Foobar 2000 which lets you select a separate sound device than the PC default so I won't ever have to adjust anything unless I switch it to a different USB port, then it will reset back to default.
