Does anyone know who makes the 2.5 to 3.5mm adapter that was included in the tour kit? I'm reviewing the elysium and need an adapter, the one that came with it sounded great and I want anything that could affect sound quality.

DDHifi, you can get them on Amazon USA.

Unfortunately those take a long time to get and I've got just a few weeks to review these. Do you know any place with faster shipping or that's CONT USA based? mtmaudio is the only place I've found with fast shipping.

I totally understand the reason to buy something no matter the price if you think it is the best you've heard and your willing and able to pay the price. As long as you and your ears are happy with the purchase is all that matters in the end.

Precisely.

Now, I’m with you.

Give the erlky a go sometime if you can...

Nice review. It is interesting how we all see things so much different which is what makes HEADFI so much fun and these tours work so well for all of us. The tours allow us to hear the CIEMs on our own gear, with our music, in the comfort of our own homes and musical environments. I find this so much more informative than simply reading someone else's opinion.

The VE products have really been an eye-opener to me offering a house sound that I cannot get enough of. The ERL is definitely my favorite IEM of all time so I am very interested in how you respond to that one. The ELY didn't fare well in your review, but is my personal favorite right now being the one that gets the most of my ear time. However, as I have been saying my custom is a significant improvement for me over the universal given my weird inner ear shape offering a much greater bass response - quality and quantity - as well as greater extension both directions.

The tour kits vary from tour to tour depending on what I decide with the manufacturer. They also seem to lose tips over time as well as show some wear and tear, but that is just the nature of hosting tours. In this case, the packaging was large enough that I thought it better to do a condensed kit so that everyone could save on shipping. As you can see in my ELY unboxing video, the packaging is quite exquisite and larger than many other manufacturers. You mentioned the EE tour, but the packaging for EE is much more compact that allowed us to cost-effectively ship in the original boxes. Check out my unboxing video below to see how nice the full VE packaging can be:

Thanks for the clarification on the limited unboxing experience. I understand the reasoning. I also understand tips go missing or wear out over time. I just found it odd. The build quality and comfort was the major gripe for me, especially with the Elysium. It is good to hear that the custom makes a difference. I have considered getting a custom for a long time, need to get my ear impressions taken. I look forward to hearing the EVE and the ERL.

2 is my favorite setting. Flip to 1 sometimes for truly explosive bass fun.

Enjoy, buddy!

I had the VE Elysium and VE8 tour kit a few weeks ago. I liked the Elysium so much that fortunately stumbled upon a very rare used one two days after receiving the tour package. I had both Elysiums for a day and I was able to compare the shape of the tour Elysium and the Elysium they are now selling. The tour model has no serial number markings like the regular one does. There is a slight difference in shape. There are tiny bevels between the faceplate and the body on the current Elysium being sold. I cannot remember if there were other shape differences. The tour Elysium seemed more rounded in shape but I could be wrong on that one. The Elysium I have now reminds me of Spree candy from the old days. Same contours and same smoothness :)

I attached some of my own cables to them in order to use with my 4.4mm source. I am very glad there was not much packaging which made it easier to ship. Also I usually try and avoid stock tips for possible resell purposes in the future. I did have to play around a lot with fit with the Elysium. I usually have issue with getting a seal with IEMs. With the Elysium I the difficulty was that I was getting too tight of a fit with too much of a seal. I played around with tips and sizes and now all is good.

I am thoroughly enjoying the Elysium. The mids are some of the best I have ever heard. EXTREMELY emotional. The treble is an outstanding implementation of the Estat drivers. The bass fits in perfectly with the rest of the signature. I do not think more bass would have been helpful to the emotional sound of the IEM.

I never did spend much time with the VE8. The Elysium was so much to my signature liking that the VE8 was alone during its stay with me. I included a picture of the tour IEMs and of course I had to include one of the Elysium I now own.

Same!

Tried both and the Elysium just won me over.
