A couple month agoI wanted a a pairof IEMs because my beloved HD555s are great but not portable at all. I ended up getting the vmoda vibes and I wasnt satisfied with them. They are OK but it seems my expectations were too high because of all the hype.

Now I have stopped feedig myself for a couple weeks and now can buy a really good pair of IEMs of about $200. I understand sound quality will be remarkably better than the HD555s with IEMs of this price.

My previous options wereShure's E4c and Ety's ER4P. I am totally in love with the HD555 sound after 5-6months. I think they are absolutely great, and if there is something I COULD ask for that the HD555s is not giving is just a littl more bass, but if it comes at the expense of worse/recessed mids I wouldnt want it. I am OK with the HD555s bass, but thinking really hard about it I think juts a little bit more would probably make the cans better.

I want the IEMs to sound great with all types of music. In my Library i have Rock, Jazz, Latin Rythms.

I understand the e4c are more bass heavy and some say they are a bit more fun than the er4p.

Which one would suit me better? Which one is more similar to the HD555 sound signature?

They both are superior (SQwise) than the HD555, right?

They are going to be used 95% of the times withmy Zen Vision M. Just letting you know in case synergy does play an important role.

Which one should I get? Taking suggestions of another set of IEMs too.

If you want more bass, I can confidently tell you that the E4cs would suit your music better. Not that the ER4s are bad, except that they sounded bass lacking which is supposed to be "fast, tight and accurate" according to other people.

I would say, don't upgrade until you've tried the MylarThrees. They can even stand up to my HD650 and cost less than the cable

I'm in the same boat as you OP. Started out with HD555's around 6 months ago. Still loving them - I'm sure they sound even better than they did when I first got them. But I can no longer stand iBuds for portable use...so I'm shopping for entry IEM's as well. Not quite in your price range though, probably closer to the $100 mark. I'll be interested to see which model you decide to go with. If I you have the cash, general consensus seems to be that you may as well save up a bit more and go for something like SE530 so as to avoid upgraditis (or delay it for a long time anyway until you have LOTS of money to burn on somethign like UE-10's)...worth considering.

thx for the suggestions, burger. But I dont think i will be spending anymore money in audio gear for a long time (maybe a year or more) after i make this purchase.

I am totally in love with my Senns and I just want such a good sound (of course, better if possible) frm my iems since they are being my main use lately and will likely get at least 12hours/week just at the gym in the next couple weeks.

I think I am ready to pay 200 but not much more than that. And I have read the E5c are very good but it seems they are not 50% better than its predecesor.
