Hi all, I've been lurking around for a few months and the helpful advice on these forums led me to getting a Hifiman EF2 and a pair of Beyerdynamic DT880s (600ohm).

From my noob experience, it seems the EF2 has trouble properly driving the DT880s 600ohm. My computer volume is at 90%, the amp volume control is at 3 o'clock, and only then is the volume level enough for me. If I keep the volume the same and substitute a HD595 (I think they're only 32ohm?), my ears start to hurt. I'm pretty happy with the EF2, but I'd like to take it up a notch

Now I'm considering taking the EF2 to work and getting a pair of AKG K271 MKIIs for it. That leaves me looking for a new tube amp and possibly a new DAC. I've searched around the forums and there are a lot of different opinions about amps for DT880s, but I think I've narrowed it down to the following:
1. Wooaudio WA3
2. MingDa MC84-C07
3. Darkvoice 336SE
4. Little Dot MK3
5. Other suggestions welcome

I'm looking for something that's a noticeable improvement over the Hifiman EF2 but at the same time looks nice and shiny. Any recommendations? The WA3 is the most expensive in the list, so that would probably be a price limit. I know Skylab has a very good opinion about the MC84-C07, but its appearance looks a bit odd to me.

Regarding the DAC, I was planning on getting a receiver for a HT setup, and using its DAC. The receiver in question is a Yamaha RX-V765, which has a Burr-Brown. Any idea how this would compare to the DAC on the EF2 (also a Burr-Brown, I believe)? Would it be worth spending $200-300 on getting a separate DAC? I was curious about the Zero DAC, Yulong DAH1, or EMU0404 USB.

Thanks for reading!
