Hi

I've been spending wayyy too much time online these last few days, trying to figure out what I need to purchase in form of a new set of IEM's or headphones, so now I'm looking for suggestions from the experts.

Currently I have some nasty earbuds that I got with my phone, and an AKG K512 MKII, that I've been using with my Kawai CA95 digital piano. I like the over-the-ear feel of these (most on-ear squishes my ears on my glasses), and the sound signature is not too bad, but they leak sound to the outside world, and could definitely sound better.

What will I be playing, and from what and where:

99% of the audio that will go through a new set, will be streaming music from Spotify and Telmore Play, via my Oneplus 3T phone. I'm primarily listening to classical music (strings and piano), and oldschool rock'n roll from the 50's to 70's. They will be used a couple of hours a day on my commute to and from work, and hence must have good isolation.

Budget:

I would like to stay under 400$, with a max of ~550$ for a solution to fit my needs.

Type:

I'm looking for either IEM's, or closed back headphones. I don't want a cable connected to my phone, so either a cabled set of phones connected to a Bluetooth amp like the FiiO BTR1, or BlueTooth all the way. It's worth mentioning that the OP3T does NOT support aptX.

Sound:

Clear highs to bring out the high octaves of the strings, great mids, and a bass that can be heard, but not overpowering, though still make me feel the "thunder" in Chopin's Raindrop prelude. As large a soundstage as possible for IEM's or closed backs within my budget.

So, based on the above, what would you recommend?

Thanks in advance

- Thomas

OnePlus has just released Android O, and the first thing in the changelog is: "Added support for aptX HD", So, I've just ordered the BlueWave GET, and will hence be looking for a wired pair of IEM's or cans.

I've been looking at the following so far:

B&W P7
Master & Dynamic MH40
Shure SE535

Any recommendations / input?
