Hey everyone, nice to be here! My name is Chris and I'm 29 years old from Austria.

I'm posting this because I've been kind of an audio enthusiast for a couple of years now, but always had to compromise because portability was of utmost importance to me. Therefore, I bought myself a pair of Sennheiser IE80 and Momentum Wireless some time ago for listening on-the-go from my iPhone or MacBook with Tidal Hifi/Master. Now, I don't need to travel as much anymore and also bought myself a nice little Dragonfly Red, which leads me to a new problem: for the first time, I feel like both my headphones are kind of a bottleneck when it comes to SQ...

Therefore, I'd like to upgrade to get the most out of my setup, while still maintaining a bit of portability. And now I need your help! :)

As mentioned above, I will use a 12" MacBook and an iPhone X as sources, paired with a DragonFly Red.
- I mainly (or rather: exclusively) listen to Rock, Hard-Rock and Metal.
- I love high-quality and -quantity bass, but I also want to retain a high amount of details and a wide soundstage.
- Noise cancellation isn't important, comfort is.
- Don't really have a fixed budget, always depends on how much improvement I will get for my money.
- I want a solid build quality, they should last for some years.
- Don't care for analytical sound, I prefer "fun" listening hands down.

What type of 'phones do I prefer? Don't know, honestly. I like InEars for being on the go and for the comfort, but I guess that Over-Ears still are the way to go when it comes to SQ? Thought about getting a pair of Shure SE846, but dunno if Full-Size would be better bang-for-bucks given my needs?

What do you think? Will I be able to improve over my current headphones given my existing hardware? What would you choose considering my list above, which would be a decent upgrade over the IE80/Momentum while still packing the desired punch and bass amount + quality?

Thank you A LOT for all your help and suggestions! Very much appreciated!! :)

Christoph
