Hey guys, curious to get your opinion on this. I quite enjoy my Argons, but I feel like they're lacking both some punch in the low end and some sparkle in the high end. I mostly listen to a mix of pop, hip hop, and rap, but I usually listen to things across most genres. Something that's good across most genres would be great. Honestly, I'd probably be fine with something with a similar sound to the Argons, they're just lacking some of that sweet, sweet, subbass punch that I'm looking for. I'd also want something similar to the soundstage of the Argons, although I know I'll probably have to sacrifice somewhat on that because of the massive soundstage of the Argons. Here's a list of headphones I've had and listened to before settling on the Argons:

-Hifiman HE4XX
-Sennheiser 58X
-Philips Fidelio X2HR
-Hifiman Sundara

Based on the circumstances I'm in at home where both my wife and I are WFH, I would preferably need something that's closed back. I did enjoy the more airiness of the Sundara, but the sound signature of the Argons was much more to my taste (I got to A/B them for a bit). I also use the headphones for gaming a lot as well, and I'm using a Topping NX4S as my amp/dac. I can spend anything under 1K on the new pair (that would include me selling the Argons cause I have about 6-700 to spend), and I really don't mind buying used. I've been potentially looking at the following:

-ZMF Eikon - these seem perfect, but they're super hard to find a pair used. They also seem to go very fast once they go up on here or elsewhere. New is out of my price range.
-ZMF Atticus - could get these new, but they have a midbass hump instead of subbass
-Beyer 1770/177X GO - I've heard that both of these have solid subbass, but they both have funky high end and sucked out mids
-Fostex TH-X00 Ebony - I'm not really interested in the PH or Mahogany, but the Ebony seems to be in that range.

I'd appreciate any other suggestions you have under 1K!

Eikon has a lot less bass punch than the Argon overall. Sounds like you need the Fostex TH-900, and if it's too pricey check it out on the used market. It's one of few headphones with more bass quantity than the Argons, and it sure as hell has a lot more sparkle in the treble since the Argon is really dark. Different colored TH-900s have different tuning, I think the red one has the most recessed mids.

Really? I've always heard that the Eikon has better subbass rumble where the Argons are more midbass focused. I can attest to the Argons being very midbass focused, but I'm surprised to hear that about the Eikons. The TH-900 isn't too harsh in the treble? I know it's a relatively resolving headphone in general, but never heard good things about the signature of the headphone.

Demoing is great yeah. The Eikon has much more sub-bass presence but it doesn't slam as hard overall, the increased sub-bass presence is also largely due to it not having a big mid-bass hump like the Argon.

I can't speak to the refinement of the TH-900 treble since its entire sound signature makes me cringe. It is very bright, with very recessed mids and immense bass, the epitome of V-shaped frequency response. Apparently this differs a bit depending on the model (color).

Maybe the ZMF Atticus is for you but I haven't heard it myself. It is known to have a lot of slam.

GOT SCAMMED ON EBAY FOR A FAKE PAIR OR ARGONS. They put a headband and zmf pads and sold it as an argon but obviously still had the stock cups. Be careful out there

Hi. I'm just curious what did you get, and whether it has been working for you.
I have been in a similar position for some time as well. But I was thinking more about Verite, Z1R, or Campfire Cascade.
Thanks
