I use my IEM's almost exclusively when I'm on an airplane, and I'm generally only using them to watch TV shows and movies. Only every once in a while do I listen to any music. If I am listening to music, it's usually something I do as I try to catch some sleep. In-ear wearing time would generally be 2-2.5 hours, but it's increased to 3 hours on average lately due to ability to use small electronic devices during take-off/landing.
I was looking to spend about $100 at the time and Earphone Solutions recommended the Westone UM1. I recall discussions with them centered heavily around comfort, and I've been very pleased in that category. I've never had any ear fatigue. Longest in-ear time I recall was about 4 hours.
I'm concerned about the age and the UM1's possibly going out on me, so I'm looking to refresh in general, so I figure I'd consider upgrading as well.
Question is, would spending more money be worthwhile given the listening environment and source materials? I'm willing to go up to $350'ish range. First and foremost I would expect comfort level to be equivalent or better to the UM1, and also the noise isolation aspect. Anything beyond that is gravy.
