I'm currently being hit by a small bout of upgraditis and wondering if you guys could recommend an upgrade for me. I'm looking primarily for IEMs since most of my usage is on public transit, I may consider full sized headphones just to try something new. Budget permitting, UM2s or something less frankenstein-esque is in order. A bigger soundstage and more detail with more tight, impactful bass is what I'm searching for.

If you're looking for a comparable amount of bass and just greater detail and soundstage, I'd recommend the Westone UM2 or the Atrio M5s.

good full sized headphones like grados or beyerdynamics dont provide good isolation, if you want something for public transport, its going to have to be IEM or bud, you can wait a couple of weeks and get the q-JAYS, or get the atrio M5,

How is the profile on the Q-jays when inserted? I don't know sound quality wise, but I really don't like the aesthetics of the atrio m5. At $130 though, it is mighty tempting...how much isolation does it provide? The EB are rated at 16db, I'm probably getting less than that. I'd say 20-25db would do it for me.

your budget would be a good start,i personally love the shure se530 and think for me at least they are the best iem's available non custom, full size gives you a heck of a lot more options and generally better sound but if you want isolation and portability the best iem's ive owned are, ultimate ears super fi 5,triple fi 10,shure se530,etymotic er4p (good but with lack of low end kick) and many others but as far as what ive owned they are some of the best

Nothing new on the market that I haven't heard of yet, so I guess its really just a matter of what the budget permits. What does a pair of used SE530 run for these days?

I think I've narrowed it down to UM2, SE530, and the atrio M5 depending on what price I can find after shipping and customs.

The SE530 with the PTH modules runs at almost the combined price of the other two.

Atrio: ~$140-150
UM2: ~$180-200
SE530 w/ PTH: ~$300 or more

Anyone able to compare the differences between those three? (M5, U2 and SE530)

That is quite a huge price difference.

What is the difference between the U2 and M5? Someone was mentioning in another thread how they were going to 'upgrade' from a U2 to a M5? Strange thing to read, when considering the prices....

I'm also in the market for a new IEM, and like these three. Being a DT 770 owner, I like my bass, and thus am shying away from the triple.fi.

People seem to compare the M5 with the SE350, and they are almost half the price. How does that work?
