Hi!
I'm currently having HD600 cans, and after reading here I think I would need an amp to get the most out of the cans. I've been using as source the computer and creative x-fi. I'm mostly gaming, watching dvds/movies and listening to music. I would like to upgrade my system, but what would be my best bet?

I thought that the Zhaolu 2.5 DAC would be nice, been reading nice things about it and it does have an integrated headphone amp + it's pretty cheap. But I'm wondering that is it possible to use the x-fi's effects, mostly EAX and CMSS3D, when having an external DAC, like the Zhaolu? Would it be better to get a decent amp instead, like the canamp?

I tried to search the forums, and other places but did not find any direct answers. I could spend a bit over 300euros, give or take...

Given your budged, i'd say dump the soundcard , get a better one instead like a emu 0404 pci and a dedicated amp like OBH21 SE or heed canamp

Okay, I think I'm going for the canamp, and later on get a better source. But I would still like an answer that is it possible to you use an external DAC and still have gaming effects like EAX to passtrough ?

I'm pretty sure you can use an external DAC and still get the EAX features. I'm using an external DAC and never had problems with games.
