[*UPDATED*] M50s, are they the best for me? (most likely not anymore)

SRH840 seems good for it, and a bit more comfortable too..
but its a bit bass shy compared to M50

i got my M50 and its awesome for those genres, even treble happy J-pop songs.
which is harsh on my HD202 and extremely smooth on my M50

2X on all of these places.  as for bhphotovideo.com, I have spend a few thousands of USD here already.  Very well known photography place, they are known for being the world largest source for photography.  Of course they sell a lot of other entertainment equipment also.

BH still has them for reasonable prices I think.

BH?

Trustable? =\ a bit paranoid about sites... sorry.

Yes VERY trustable!  I bought 2 pairs of M50's from them and they came super fast, unharmed :]

Also, I've bought countless photography equipment from them and their service has always been quick and professional.  Highly recc them, although they do seem to be out of stock of the M50's right now :/

when in doubt, check resellerratings.com for online retailer reviews

Wow thanks a lot guys!  I'll be purchasing the headphones in about two weeks T.T (no excess money at the moment, I'm still a student) so I'll make sure to write a review (hopefully another 5 star recommendation like the rest) as soon as I get some burn in time with them.

Thanks once again for your swift replies everyone!

Ah, one last question... How is the fit/comfort when compared to the Sony MDR-7506? (they're what got me thinking that I might need to switch from an IEM background.  I tried my friends for about an hour and half and wow... what a difference...)  also, I found them to be quite portable as well, I was wondering how much larger are the M50's?

For full size headphones, they are on the smaller size.  I don't find them to be large at all.  They also fold down to be more compact and comes with a pouch.  I never seen the 7506s before, but I can see them being larger than those.  So for your answer, they are a very good size.

I have a few concerns...

1. Your source is a Zune, I try and drive the M50 with my iPhone, and while it works, I feel like an amp would REALLY help. Not sure about zune.

2. Comfort is iffy. At first, they were pretty uncomfortable for me, however, after stretching it a bit and using it for 2 weeks, they feel much more comfortable.

Ah... yes I just checked the impedance on my IEM's the Meelectronics M9s which ran fairly loud on my zune and they came out to about 16 ohms.... With the M50's at 38 ohm's will a portable amp possibly one from Fiio be worth it?  If so, what would you recommend I get as an amp? *keeping in mind this is meant to be a portable rig

I am in the process of looking for an amp, if I decide to keep these m50s...

I have heard good things about the Fiio E7. I heard that the E5 is ok, not great, but its a LOT cheaper than the E7.

For portable set up, I say wait until you get the headphone in your hands first and see if they are okay with your zune.  I don't know, when I think of portable, I think of minimizing.

The M50 are very easy to drive I believe.  I tried mine on various laptop and my iphone, seems to work very good, no volume issue. If you try them out and think it need improvement, invest on an amp.  I'm sure an amp probable will make some improvement, but the question you want to ask yourself is do you want to fumble around with the amp while on the about.
