I hear people say all the time that an underpowered amp isn't going to sound good. For example I'm looking into the bottlehead crack and planning to eventually upgrade to an lcd2. I understand that the crack will only be able to drive it with maybe 100mw but that's 111db and much more than I need.

So when people say an underpowered amp isn't good for a set of headphones is it because they aren't gonna sound good for some reason or is it just that they won't go loud enough?
