Ok, I need help for hopefully the last time...well atleast the last time for a little while. I am interested in getting better phones to listen to via my Cowon D2 and I have narrowed my selection down to 4 very different headphones:

AKG K181 - Strong points are crisp highs and killer bass. I listen to alot of hip-hop so these should be right up that alley. The cord is also one sided which is a big plus for me and I think the plug is 1/8 inch but I am unsure (I would hate to have a big adapter sticking out of my little d2). I am also unsure if the d2 is sufficient to drive these.

ATH-E7 - I hear these have smooth highs and mid's with average bass. They should be able to be driven by the d2 with no problem. In the review I have seen people aren't really raving about them but they aren't really saying anything bad about them either. They are also said to be very good looking headphones.

Atrio M5 - These are the phones I am leaning towards currently because of there small size and portability. I plan on starting a new workout regiment so I may use these at the gym. I hear they have a very solid construction. My d2 should be able to drive these with no sweat. I hear that the bass goes pretty deep with these phones and the sound has been compared to two load speakers in your ear canal due to the single dynamic driver design. I also understand that the sound you get may vary depending on the tip you use. I currently own a pair of V-Moda vibes but I am looking for something more. They just don’t have that Hi-Fi sound that I thought they would when they were all the rave a few months back. I was thinking of saving up for the E500's but $450 is an awful lot of money and these are suggested to sound just as good or at least in the same ballpark.

Alessandro MS-1 - These are suppose to sound similar to the legendary KSC-75. I own a pair of porta pro's which are like a girlfriend that I care for but at the same time I have outgrown and am ready to move on. The MS-1's are actually customized Grado's and I really don’t know what the Grado sound is like because I have never heard a pair. I also wonder if my d2 will be able to power these phones. I do know that they are also open cans with a upfront presentation.

I plan on using whatever phone I pick mainly around the house and on the treadmill in my basement. I may even use them at the gym depending on how sturdy they are. Any advice would be greatly appreciated..

The D2 will have no problem with the MS-1's. I have both and love them.

Yes... buy some custom Darth Beyers!!

Well... on a more pratical note, if you're going to consider K81DJ, you might as well add Sony MDR-V6 on the list.

But, if you can let sound leak in and out (i.e. - you're using these at home, and the gym too if you don't feel like being made fun of), I'd definitely go with MS-1.

I just don't think there's much that could beat KSC75s for the gym, tho.

Nobody will make fun of me. My wife says I am to big and scary looking for that. I just placed a bid on ebay for the m5's so I am going to see how that goes. Thanks for all of the advice!
