Hi Guys,

Last year I bought an amp that has no branding on it from a member at canuckaudiomart. It sounds really nice, but I've always been curious as to what it is. I have no idea on what specs are or the quality of the components inside. Anyone have any input that knows electrical components?

I was wondering what I could do to test it and get some specs? I would like to know things like power output and impedance. Anyone living in the Ottawa area and could help me out?

The above picture is the amplifier opened up. Below is the attached power supply.

It's a DIY amp called the PIMETA. See here: http://tangentsoft.net/audio/pimeta2/

I don't have any experience with it directly, but the design is basically a combination of most of the things discussed on Tangent's site. Start with your basic cmoy design (which for all intents and purposes is a basic opamp circuit). Add a buffer into the loop for better current delivery (possibly a multiloop topology, I don't remember here). Then bias the opamp into class A.

It's an excellent "learning" DIY amp, in that all the parts are relatively easy to understand and "see" how each section contributes to the next.
