I've been running my SR-5 off of my SRD-6 for about 8 minutes now with the power cord unplugged. I figure one of three things is happening:

1. I am stupid and the energizer is supposed to run off of just speaker outs.
2. I am still stupid but also have discovered a perpetual energy mechanism
3. I am stupid because driving headphones without power plugged in is ruining them.

So, which is it?

I have a SRD-7Mk2 and I'm pretty sure it needs to be plugged in.

I was able to run my SRD-6 as long as I wanted without any power whatsoever... maybe some kind of electricity buildup?

The bias charge will stay put even after you unplug the mains power. The charge will slowly "wear off" though, but afaik no harm will be done.
So probably related to #2.
