I just got my um1's about 2 weeks ago and they are a huge improvement over the bose inears I had in pretty much every categories except comfort. Ive heard many times that the um1's to be one of the most comfortable iems but for some reason they cause my ear to hurt after wearing for periods over a hour or so. Anyone have any tips/solutions on how I can get a better fit with the um1's?? Thanks

westone um1 is definitely a worthy upgrade from bose inears, you made the right choice.
For me, I have no problem using comply tips for hours. It is probably one of the most comfortable tips in the market (except for its durability, only last about 1 month of use for me, gets dirty fast). But i know that comply is not for everyone.
Which comply tips did you use? standard/ long? Because I have the problem w/ the longer tips too, it hurts me when i tried to put it in, it was too long for my ears.
But if you have problems with the shorter one too, there are plenty of tips that you can choose. I used shure's triple flange( cut it to two flanges) for my westone um1 and it fits perfect.
I think I bought it from earphonesolutions.com, you can see different tips for um1, check website for reference.

ps: go for cowon s9! you won't regret it! ^^

I use the grey shure tips size small and the UM1's are very comfortable for me.

I use the Black Shure foam sleeves (here) and they are denser and wider than the comply's which I found helped improve comfort and seal. They do, however (to me), feel like an improved version of the comply tips that are provided with your UM1's, so I am not sure if they can help with your comfort problem if those tips are the problem.
