I recently bought the Signature Pro to try and replace my modded 750 Pro. The sound signature is only slightly U-shaped, which is pretty damn flat for a Ultrasone. Great build quality, great detail across the board, extremely controlled bass. All around lovely sound if you like your headphones to have bass, but not stupid bass that eats other sounds. I listen to pretty much anything except pop and jazz, and the only "problem" they have is the usual true high-end issue: You will hear when something is badly recorded/mastered.

Unfortunately, the ear pads are small -- both smaller, and shallower than on the Pro 750. They literally start hurting my ears after an hour or so. I do not know how the Signature Studio sounds, but the pads appear to have the exact same shape, so... Considerable pain.

looking for headphones, specific Ultrasone, which meet the following requirements:

- ULE technology

- not in-ear headphones

- detachable cable

- only hardwired, no wireless / bluetooth option

- suitable for listening to audiobooks, videos, movies, music, video & music software etc. (it doesn't have to be top high-end headphones)

- neutral sound (not too much focus on bass, neither too high mids / lows, just as balanced as possible)


I received a recommendation to give the Signature Studio a try.

Does it matter if they are over ears or on ears?
The reason I ask is because the Ultrasone Edition M is on ears, but it also happens to be a very neutral/flat sounding headphone. It also has very good imaging and decent soundstage. It's a very practical and portable headphone with a high quality, detachable cable.
I currently have the Pro 1480i, but the Pro 1480i has a warmer, more laid back sound signature whilst still being quite neutral. It has bigger soundstage than the Edition M but the imaging is just as accurate.
