Okay - my Ultrasone 900s have arrived!

I'm confused about what's in the box though. Here's what I found inside:

1. Headphones
2. 2x cables both terminated in 6.3mm Neutrik jacks [one coil, one straight]
3. 1x 6.3mm --> 3.5mm jack
4. Spare earpads
5. Travel case
6. CD
7. Instruction manual

Now on the outside of the box, it says there is a USC soft cable which I can't find. Does this refer to the 2x 6.3mm jack cables?

I can't find a 3.5mm cable at all! This means, that when I plug my Ultrasones into my mini-disc, the Neutrik 6.3mm adapter + the 6.3mm->3.5mm adapter is required, making the jack plug assembly longer than the physical dimensions of my mini-disc

Was there a mistake? Do these headphones come with a 3.5mm jack cable? The contents of the Instruction Manual don't actually refer to the Pro900 and looks like a generic instruction manual for all the Ultrasone Pro and DJ series.

Anyone help?

There is no 6.3mm->3.5mm adapter cable from Ultrasone. It is simply a plug-on adapter. Look around the travel case for it (iirc, it has some velcro enclosures).

Even if you find it, I would suggest not plugging the Neutrik-terminated cable + the adapter directly into your minidisc, as it may place undue strain on the minidisc's jack. I would use an adapter cable, such as the ones that Sennheiser or Grado sell.

Better still (and ~the same price) would be to order the short "Ipod" (it has nothing to do with Ipods specifically) cable from Ultrasone. It is perfect for your application.

Thanks Jpleg - that's so useful. I was thinking how strange it was to get only 6.3mm jacks!

I wish I'd asked for your advice earlier - that way I would've bought the shorter iPod cables. Do you have a link for this? My headphone supplier didn't have any other Ultrasone products in store so I didn't know any better.....

Cheers!

Yup...that's the cable... BTW it is a really short cable ( 80 cm ). It could be a little longer.
The case that the Pro 750/900 come with sure is awesome.

Yup, the cable is too short, can't put the iPod in the pocket then.

There is the possibilty to DIY a own cable.

The only problem in my case is that i do not know where to get this screw-plug.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'm in England actually - can't seem to find anywhere that offers these shorter cables.

80cm is plenty fine for my minidisc.

It seems quite shocking that Ultrasone don't create a stock 90 degree L angle 3.5mm jackplug cable. That really limits its application for portable players.

Btw - is this iPod cable the same wire grade/thickness as the stock cable?

Cheers!

I'll ask and find out how much they cost there. They are very expensive though! Look at the cost of the Pro 900s on their website!

I got my Pro 900s for £220 brand new so they're way cheaper than most places

Will try and get a short cable then unless there's an a higher quality alternative?

I thought I got myself a bargain at £260 but £220 is just outrageous! its retail price in most places is £350 and I even found a seller on Amazon selling it for £445!

Lol. Same price and if you're VAT exempt - so save 17.5% on the list price of £260. With the current exchange rates, for once, it's actually cheaper to buy a spanking new set of Ultrasone Pro 900s from the UK than it is from the USA or Australia!
