Hi,
I am struck between choosing one of these three headphones. Will be using them in conjuntion with an iPod/ computer so no seperate amp. Will listen mostly to trance/ dnb.

The Pro900 are great sounding headphones with extra bass and soundstage is large on these(Ultrasone are generaly very good with these genres music).

Thing is, I will be using the Pro 900 with an iPod without an amplifier as I use it every day, so extra things are not an option, will the Pro 900's still provide great sound?

I liked the PRO900 straight out of an iphone, problem is you'd be running it at like 90% volume all the time and the PRO900 and 750 leak pretty bad for closed headphones and they are huge. So I wouldnt recommend them for portable use.

So if they leak bad, you mean they allow much sound in?

No I mean people around you can hear what you are listening to. And its not horrible leakage like I may have made it seem above but it is noticeable.

Hmm, and to what extent are the PRO 900 portable? The HFI 780's are probably a lot more portable right?

Well the PRO's do come with 2 cables one of which is short. I think (not sure) the 780s have a really long cable. I have only tried both the PRO models so thats about the only comparison I can do.

But to plug the PRO into an iPod, you need to use a converter to 3.5mm jack right?

I've owned Pro 750, and heard Pro 900. For me, the 750 sounded too thin, but had better details. The 900 has huge bass (especially mid bass) and sounded better to my ears. I found that both leak very little to none, especially compared to the likes of the popular Denon X000 line.
 
As for an amp, both usually can be driven without a dedicated amp, but they also sound marginally better with one.
 
As far as portability, the do come with a case, and they fold flat. BUT on your head they are huge, and in general you would look like a poseur with them on in public.

Thats exaclty what I wanted to know, that they do (or dont) look bad in public, basically. And the HFi 780's look just as big... damn
Might have to go with Sennheiser HD 25-1 II
