Ultrasone edition 10 "THE BUTTERFLY" initial impressions

Enjoy it.
The ED10 age well, mine is nearly 6 years old.

My burn in log: 260+ hours
Now finally the treble got tamed down (not completely though).
I can enjoy 95% of my music tracks without any sibilance issue.
It is certainly a bright headphones, but its resolution and separation is insanely good.
Sound stage is even larger than HD800S, and I would dare say imaging is better than Utopia.
I'm now confident that the peaky treble will settle to non-problematic range.
My burn in session will continue until the hour count hits 1000.

Mine are a few years old and have lost all that made others cry.

It is amazing how these change and absolutely confirms the burn in theory. These change from unbearable to, IMHO a fantastic headphone.

Enjoy the journey!

Regards

Sceptre
Thank you so much for another great encouragement!!! Now I have a firm faith in my Edition 10!!!

My burn in log: 400+ hours
The treble problem is pretty much gone. Sibilance can be heard only on some particular tracks.
Now I can enjoy 99% of my music tracks. Yes, it is bright but its separation and wide staging are almost in insane level.
These Has have become quite enjoyable to my ears.

My burn in session will continue until the hour count hits 1000.

Try it with tube amps if you have not.

This one sounds pretty good with the ED10. I use it in my office. It looks great and the imaging is surprisingly spacious with the ED10, HD800 and Z1R.
Probably enough power for vocals and jazz.

If you want to really invest in one that will drive not only phones but also speakers, the Cary 300 SEI is a classic that works great with the ED10 and others.

I don’t have a tube amp. Do you have any recommendation?

Thank you, Paul, for the recommendation. I may try Little Dot just as a starter.

I also recommend this Prima Luna. It is an integrated amp but it's headphones output runs through the same circuits as the speaker tabs just reducing the power with some resistors.
I sold my WA5-LE and got this. It sounds great, has flexibility on the power tubes and you avoid the crazy cost of the 300B tubes. I consider the Cary too but decided for the PrimaLuna. I am very happy with it.

You are welcome. IMO it is hard to beat price/performance wise. The PrimaLuna stock tubes are good but I upgraded to NOS Mullard in the input and drivers and NOS SIemmens EL34 for power and it jump to a better level. Th cool thing is down the road you can add speakers and it has enough juice to drive a big range of speakers. I bet it will be awesome with some Klipsch Heritage series like the Cornwall III.

Quick question: how similar are these to the HFI-2400 or Pro2900's?

These two are good office headphones, not reference like the ED10. They are good for iPhones.
