Hey,

thanks to some helpful people on this forum I've narrowed my search for a decent set of cans to use with my electric drum kit down to the Ultrasone Proline 650 or the Equation Audio RP-21.

The cans will be hooked straight up to the kit's module, so no amp. I can get the RP-21s for £45 whereas the Ultrasones will set me back £129. For drumming would they really justify the hefty price difference? Is the bass that much better? Opinions on the two would be really help with this decision.

Thanks.

The Ultrasone HFI or PROline 550 would make a much better pair for drumming that the PROline 650. Bigger tougher driver on either 550, so you would get better bass and less chance of blowing them.

the DJ1, HFI550, and the Proline550 all have the same driver, and yes they are VERY tough drivers, i know a couple of DJ's who go through headphones on allen and heath mixers like no tomorrow, and so far the longest lasting ones i have seen are these related ultrasones. im only a few days into burning in my RP-21's if the midrange were to open up just a little bit more i would definately recommend them over the ultrasones purely because of cost.
