Ultimate Ears UE 900 Discussion and Impressions Thread

Hopefully but honestly my earphones never see any high risk activity as they live permanently on my desktop I don't wear them to bed or do cardiovascular exercise or anything with them except wear them at my desktop which is isolated in my room.. so not sure why you wrote that or quoted high risk?

I like the UE900s packaging better then the UE900 but the UE900s earphone sounds different but can't quiet put my finger on it as I'm not an audiophile / earphone enthusiast they just lack fullness maybe treble or bass but tried my old UE 900 earpiece with UE900s and the left earpiece still works fine it is the right earpiece that sounds muffled / dampened / blown 75% volume imbalance etc. so not sure if there is something in the right earpiece that's not in the left that's blown / broke?.

I'm grateful to Logitech for all the replacements but still can't understand why they'd discontinue their entire consumer product range including UE900s globally without explanation.. then to repackage & rebrand UE900 knowing they'd be discontinued at a later date.. all that market investment / license to print money flushed away effectively making Logitech's acquisition of Ultimate Ears back in 2008 a complete failure!

I wonder if UE900s will feature in Logitech's closeout discontinued store at a reduced price

Hold on, I am confused. As far as I know the 900 were discontinued and then Logitech offered the 900s which was actually a the 900 with the new tips and gel. We were all under the immpresion that the 900s with the unibody will be launched soon. Are you saying that they all have been discontinued?

It certainly looks that way though I could be wrong.. I'm not sure there is anything special with the unibody it's just the shell is all the same color? mine is non unibody but has the updated gold plates which is most important I think

What do you mean "updated gold plates"?  My UE900 from last October came with gold plated connectors already, so they had those for almost 10 months already.  Never an issue with a connection.

The first ones were nickel without plating I think.

Yeah.. I received my UE900 back in July 2013 which were nickel plated causing me and other users to experience audio clipping as a result. I didn't realize they had updated UE900 production because UE900 were only on the market for 12 months prior to UE900s so what has really changed apart from packaging, accessories, and shell color aka unibody?

Wanted to give an update:

To quote my CSR "I have submitted your inquiry if the UE 900s will be restocked and if yes, when will it be available as a replacement to our product specialist. I will be updating this case once we have the feedback. Please bear with the delay and your patience is grealty appreciated. "

I think at this point the real 900s with the unibody is kind of a pink unicorn... I am starting to wonder if it's ever going to be released.

I was told early-mid August by UE. That was a couple of weeks ago though so I'm not sure if something changed.

Just got UE900s; unfortunately my UE900 is on loan so will have to do sound comparison by memory whenever I get around to write a review, but right out of the box - the sound is warmer and bass is slightly deeper.  For me, UE900 was more mid-centric, while this one is not as much.  Will have to burn in for awhile to see what settles down or up.  Btw, HOLLY collection of foam eartips!!!!!!  Unfortunately, my favorite UE900 single flange silicon tips are not there...

Unibody shell or the blue and black? If the later, according to Logitech they are identical to the 900 and what you're hearing could be the case of an unclogged pinhole bore.

Oh, my original pinholes were clean as a whistle.

The shell of UE900s I received is blue/black.  From a quick visual observation, over-ear memory wire is shorter and earpieces rotate more freely around mmcx connector.  Also, braided cable seems to be more durable, at least the shielding.  And did a mention a gazillion of foam eartips?!?  Not too crazy about the new case...
