It was long overdue. I finally got a car last week and next week I'm going for my driving test. 8 years of taking the bus has finally gotten tiring enough to do something about it.

It's a 1997 Buick LeSabre Limited that is in very good condition overall, and excellent running condition. It's definitely a boat and is not too parking lot or downtown driving friendly, but is very comfortable and still enjoyable (although not what I would call fun) to drive. Although I do have to say that it responds quite nicely to a good push on the accelerator. The more I drive it the more I realize that it made a good choice for a first vehicle since it is quite easy to drive and it allows me to concentrate more on what is going on around me. The fact that the car is extremely comfortable definitely helps with that, too. At first I thought I'd be taking the driving test in my boyfriend's Accord since I was figuring it'd take weeks to get used to this big thing and I had already gained some experience in the Accord, but after a day or two I determined that this car would be a better choice for that.

So if you live in the Denver area and see this vehicle on the road and the guy in the picture above is not in it (he has a good amount of driving experience), might be best to shy away

Congrats. My first car was a 1985 Delta 88 Royale. Also a giant boat. Makes for a great first car. Plenty of room to haul your friends around in, can't get into too much trouble driving very hard trying to race your buddy with a Mustang GT, and police tend not to pull over grandpa cars, unless of course you add neon lights and new wheels. Keep it stock and you'll blend in just fine.

The only downside to a car like that today is the price of gas. Gets a little spendy at the pump.

My first car a was a 20 year old mini costing about $300, it lay unused in a barn for about ten years & with a new battery it started with the second turn of the key, it was the cheapest & most reliable car i ever owned.

Good luck with the driving and try to keep her between the hedges.

Hey good for you for 8 years of public transportation. I did 15 years commuting to work on the bus (3 hours a day) and finally got a car. I think we earned it.

Not bad for your first ride. Nothing wrong with cruising around in a big boat. Just stay in the far right lane, and kick back with the caddys and Lexus sedans.

I love my lexy ES300. Its a "statement" kind of car... "I'm slow, fat, and weight a ton just pass me and wave as you go by".

Next time I am in Denver, I'll be looking out for that car on the roads

Please do; leave the left lane for the Audis

Me friend drove a Caddy before driving a Lincoln. In both, he drove like a bat out of hell. Honestly the man is nucking futs. Don't underestimate the ability of a Cadillac. They have powerful engines, good transmissions, and feel like a magic carpet. Those attributes will encourage the lead-footed among us to really go nuts.

Congrats on your new toy my friend!!!
Yeah just drive slow! Anyway it's way cooler these days to drive slow in the hood than drive furiously

And then get your gangsta lean and your all set to kick it compton ways! WORD UP!

This car does lend itself to just staying in the right lane and just relaxing. It's so comfortable that even being stuck in traffic isn't so bad. Just crank the stereo a little more and it's all good. The seats in the thing are more comfortable than anything I have in my apartment, it is very quiet inside the cabin, and the ride is soft.

I do plan to keep the exterior stock since I prefer not to have a conspicuous vehicle. I'd rather not become a target for vandals, thieves, or law enforcement officers. I do plan to upgrade the sound system a bit, although except for the head unit I plan to keep the stock interior appearance. I've already swapped out the stock head unit for a cheapie aftermarket one just to gain an auxillary jack and gained a surprising (for $80) sound improvement already and that was just a stop-gap until I get a much nicer system.

And fellow Coloradoans, it does seem like I drive like the average Denver driver already. Scary, eh?
